Who knows. Republicans have a great history in California of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. So stupid...

Actually, liberal Republicans have a great history of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. In fact, that term was first used in reference to the liberal Republican presidential candidate Thomas E. Dewey in his race against Harry Truman in 1948.

Later, it was applied to non-conservative Republican Richard Nixon when he lost to Kennedy, non-conservative Republican Gerald Ford when he lost to Carter, non-conservative Republican George Bush I when he lost to Clinton . . . see a pattern here?

You don't? How about in the New York Senate Race, when Giuliani was the moderate who would beat Hillary?

Do liberal Republicans serve any other function in life other than to keep conservative Republicans from running in elections?

Huh ?

All of your examples are of non-conservative Republicans being beaten - perhaps because "they are not pure enough" conservatives stayed home ?

are you supposing that if they went far right and left their "non-conservative" support behind they would have won ?

absurd - If conservatives were powerfull enough to elect strict conservative candidates they would - and Gov Simon would not be facing a recall.
