I heard those birds! They sound like my birds when their bathtub runs dry! They waste so much water. They splash all over the flowers below.
Vote for me! I'm for water conservation--bathe once a week!

Dirty Weinie

Weinie, That is terrible! How dare those birds water the flowers! Vermon I tell you!

Since you are a birder (is that what bird lovers are called?) you might be interested to know that we have discovered a Rufous Hummingbird has claimed one of our feeders. I did some research and found that they are not seen much in our area. It is possible that it could be an Allen's, they are difficult to tell apart in the field, but the aggressive way he is protecting that feeder is more like the Rufous' behavior.

I love watching and learning about birds. We had probably six or eight hummingbirds feeding off of the feeder out front. They would fight over it a bit, but each of them could eventually get to it. But since this new guy on the block showed up, not a one of them can get even close. His coloring and behavior is completely different from the others. Fortunately we have two feeders on the other side of the house and he can't guard them all at the same time.

This is a Rufous that I found in my internet search. It is the most beautiful copper color.
