Thank you MEG. The history of the west is so interesting, isn't it?
I am looking forward to doing some of the states where the gunslingers and outlaws roamed, like Billy the Kid and Jesse James. They were common thugs and murders, but history and folklore has made them into bigger than life characters with an almost heroic appeal.

Hi Lori. What a great post today. I did Vegas several years ago "with the girls" while the guys went on a golf vacation. (that was the last time they did that LOL...I think they were afraid we were having too much fun without them :o)...) Anyway...my favorite part of the trip was renting a car and driving through the mountains...over to Lake Mead etc. Thanks for another great lesson on the beautiful US of A!

Nice presentation of the Great State of Nevada. Thank you, Diver.
You've never been to Nevada? And it's just over the mountains!
Lake Tahoe is beautiful country and probably only about 2 to 3 hours away from Modesto. You really need to go see it...(but not over the weekend of Sept 13th. We have dibs on you and your lovely wife for the Fresno FR Tailgate BBQ.) :-)

Did you get a chance to take the tour of Hoover Dam while you were there? Fascinating, although it was a bit creepy going down inside the dam, knowing all that concrete was towering above me. What a massive structure that is!
My grandparents used to vacation at Lake Mead and I treasure the memory-making times when I was able to go with them.

New Definitions Thanks dixie. I love the definition of "Bozone"! That substance seems to be indigenous to this area. LOL.

Howdy, Mama_Bear! I have to commend you on getting this thread posted so early, especially being on the West Coast.Well, thank you! It's a sacrifice I am more than willing to make for my friends........and well worth it. A commendation from Thin Man is quite an honor!
It puts a certain hostess (guess who) (hint..."howdy" is a clue) to shame. :-).
Hmmmmmmm.....I don't have a clue who you could be talking about. ;-)
Thanks also for your contribution of the Nevada laws. I love these archaic state laws that are still on the books. This one, "It's still "legal" to hang someone for shooting your dog on your property", sounds perfectly reasonable to me. :-)

Knew there was something - Good article about Nevada. Everytime I think of Vegas, culture shock sets in. Thankfully though, it is becoming less and less as the months roll by!!!!

ROFL! Forgot about that! There is a freeper by that name too. I'll post a few pics of Area 51 before I run. Umm, the only known pictures of me are not suitable for public viewing. Please refrain from attempting such a feat. Doing otherwise could very well end up causing late night visits, silicone chip implants and trips to the inspection table for you. ;)
Mama-bear- I spend most of my days in Michigan, and well the nights just fly by... :)

Hi, Dave - we've been to Vegas a few times, but have never seen other parts of Nevada, so it was nice to get this cyber tour of the Nevada without the bright lights and slot machines!

You've never been to Nevada? And it's just over the mountains! Nope... but I have been to Tulare. Does that count for anything? :) Haven't been to Yosemite either (low entertainment level).
