It means that his supporters would cut off their nose to spite their face. He can't win this race, no way in the world. This is Arnold's race to win. McClintock has ideas that are completely unworkable within the California Constitution, but that doesn't stop him from saying that he will do it.
Back McClintock, that's your choice, but he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell. He's not even a blip on the radar screen.
