If it were only "neutrality" toward Israel, this could be understood. But some have a decidely non-neutral (positive) position toward Arab states.

There is the variety of person who will whimper and whine about posters ganging up on neonazis, racists and antisemites, and will complain that every viewpoint needs to be given a full airing.

What they never seem to quite understand is that some viewpoints are always wrong from the inception..

Dig up a couple of columns dated today or yesterday, and you'll still see the same old irrational rant

Wait wait wait - if you'll check my previuous post you'll find that *I'm* asking how many of their postions have changed in light of the vastly changed situation post March 19 2003 ... and that was more of a rhetorical question *and* I was also hoping that Q could be answered by someone who had already culled an answer ...

I could care less, really, what the eggheads on either side have to say - what their positions are - when they begin do deviate from what I know to be right, true and correct. If it doesn't resonate - it's relegated to NULL: pretty quickly ...

Hey, how ya been?

Great. Been lobbing some stink bombs over in the Kobie Bryant threads.

It's the Westerfield case all over again, with FReepers at each other's throats.

Excellent point.

The attitude I got for daring to dissent on one hot-button issue pretty much pushed me FURTHER away from the position held by the folks who pretty much labeled me a RINO for DARING to have a different opinion than them.

Two other articles I found to be very informative for us came from TechCentralStation:

South Park Republicans:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/764345/posts

South Park Rising:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/789569/posts

One sentence from the second column is critical:
"The Republican party cannot hold its current majority without this increasingly powerful caucus. The party can continue to adapt and prevail, or splinter and lose."

There can be a very solid anti-Left majority in the country - but the problem is, there are condescending people on the right who drive away many of these folks who don't like the Left at all, but at the same time will read "Maxim" or "Cosmo", listen to folks like Howard Stern and Opie & Anthony, and who enjoy pop culture just fine, thank you very much.

How do we reahc the folks who do not like the control freaks on the Left, but who also have a healthy skepticism of the moralists who are on the right?

Those were getting pretty mean - and I kinda keep my distance from sex/murder crime threads after seeing some of the Westerfield stuff.

Wonder what this place would've been like during the OJ trial?

Great, just what we need.

Ain't it amazing how many "best friends" this young lady has, though?

All freak show, all the time, and a bunch of folks nuked as things degraded into racial epithets. (I was on a local BBS during OJ, and I just described the chat room scene.)

It's very simple really.

Paleo Conservative is the new term for Chamberlain Conservative.

There are some other cool ways to describe 'em. Marxist-Buchanists is my favorite at the moment.

Another goodie is to refer to Pat as Lord Haw Haw (look him up).

An excellent point, but we also have to avoid the temptation to lecture and we need to pick our battles carefully. How we approach them is also important.

I gave up trying to lecture a long time ago. I will not give up on my friends.

The solution for several of them was to bitch at Jim royally, get banned, go to another forum and tell everybody what an imbecile I am, along with everybody else here at TOS.

That's how they got moved from the "I love you" column into the "screw you" column.

They lurk here (where they've been banned), which is a sign of sickness, then trot our posts there to preen themselves over.

Oh, they get really ticked off when you point out that you've been reading what they're saying about you.

Maybe ... war has its own rules though, Constitution or not. Primary rule is survival. I do think we have long passed that worry -- within a year of 9/11, and can afford to -- in fact must -- restore more liberties, and give the Constitution its full due, unhampered, unencumbered by the more primitive and crude necessities of survival.

To see a mix of paleo, neo and various conservative viewpoints look to LibertyPost.Org. Both sites have a good number of posters who are or were FR posters.

At the advice of another FReeper, I took a look at LP. It was a bit disturbing to see so many people there not to discuss the news, but bash FR and Jim. I mean, I can understand someone having a complaint and wanting to vent, but these people discuss the same thing day in and day out. It's scary.
