I see you are in New Jersey, where people like this don't exist & things like this don't happen. How nice for you.

Don't be silly, like I was being. Of course I know things like this happen all over, and I'm sorry for all the people involved, but I AM surprised to see this happen in Texas. Mostly I am surprised at the tone of the article, which seems to feel these 3 people were living some happy-go-lucky, carefree, life-style, when it's pretty obvious they were sunk in some mire of total dysfunctionality. It sounds like a situation even the Village Voice might cover in a more sceptical tone.
The attitude of the parents seems ridiculous to me, too. Maybe they are high on happy pills or something themselves, but if I saw my daughter take up with body piercers, tatoo artists, and guys nick-named Stonie, drop out of High School, become shiftless, etc., I'd be pretty worried and I would take action to change her situation. I might not succeed, I admit that, but I think I might have seen a big problem here, even without it ending in a love triangle multiple murder/suicide. These people seem to think everything was fine until the guy went nuts and killed everybody.
Now, let me just add that there are many fine people who have body piercings and are tatoo artists, but this is still not the company I'd prefer my teenage daughter kept. I wouldn't want her hanging out with bikers either. Or be involved with the "Club" Scene. Some lifestyles are NOT appropriate for teenage girls.
