WASHINGTON (AP) The Bush administration and the U.S. intelligence community have had some success in finding Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction, the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee said Thursday.
Sen. Pat Roberts told reporters on a telephone conference call that he couldn't go into detail because the news is classified.
"It's classified information now I am urging the administration and the intelligence community to make at least portions of that public," the Kansas Republican said. "We've had some success; I'm sorry I can't go into detail about that."
Roberts traveled this week to Iraq and the Middle East with members of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
When Congress returns from its Fourth of July holiday recess next week, Roberts will continue Intelligence Committee hearings into prewar intelligence on Iraq's weapons program and whether the Bush administration manipulated the information.
At issue is the administration's failure, so far, to find the Iraqi weapons. Roberts, already a staunch defender of the U.S. intelligence community, defended the White House.
"It's going to take some time to uncover Saddam Hussein's weapons programs, and let me emphasize the term `programs'," Roberts said. "This was a program designed to be hidden, hidden by people who knew what their fate would be if they revealed it."
"You can't dig up every rosebush in Iraq," Roberts added. "We need people who are familiar with the program to show us where they are hidden."

Even Hillary has buttoned up about WMDs.
You'd think the idiots running for President would have taken the hint.

I personally hope they've been looking at the Mosques. I'd bet the farm that's where the goodies are hidden.

I distincly remember Rockefeller AND Warner being on TV after a secret briefing Yes, I recall it too, it was on one of the Sunday Talk Shows.
If I recall Rockefeller was asked by Tony Snow if he thought that Kerry's comments about the president misinforming the American people was true. I distinctly remember him saying, Kerry's agenda was not the same as his.

Correct. And to assume that Iraq hasn't been teeming with terrorists is foolhardy. Wasn't there an article recently that said that American's potential is worth much more than today's evidence? Give it time, and let the chips fall where they may.

My guess is, the administration will wait till closer to election time to reveal the WMD evidence. I'm sure that the 'rat fallback position is that the Bush Administration intentionally delayed releasing information for petty political purposes...
"Why didn't we hear about this 6 months ago? I am deeply saddened to have to tell you that those evil Republicans are just doing this now as a campaign stunt. I demand an investigation into this misuse of office at once!"

I certainly hope this WMD thing is a trap being set by Bush's people.
The plan being to get as many Democratic Presidential candidates on record accusing the President of lying and asserting that the war was based on a fraud. When the irrefutable evidence of WMDs is produced, those candidates will be discredited.
I just hope they can hold out a couple more months before, they saw the limb out from under these "America hating" liars.

" Democrats sit on same committee and they're privy to same info and yet, silence."
What also happens frequently,is after a classified briefing, the Reps will come out and make comments about the sobering and alarming info they have have just been given. The Dems, usually Carl Levin, will then appear and pronounce that he has seen nothing, zip, zero, nada. Hopefully, at some point, the info that both sides were given in a classified briefing, might be declassified. At which point,I would love to see a match up of Levin's words and the actual info he was privy to, so the rest of us could see what the Democrats and Levin consider zip, zero, nada.
