Fallujah Mosque Explosion Tied to Bomb-making Class

By Gerry J. Gilmore
American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, July 2, 2003 – A bomb manufacturing class being taught inside the Al Hasan Mosque in Fallujah was apparently the cause of the early July 1 explosion there, according to U.S. Central Command officials.

Coalition forces had no involvement in the incident, according to an ongoing investigation by coalition troops and local police. U.S. 3rd Infantry Division troops had responded to the incident after a U.S. aircraft had notified officials about the blast, according to CENTCOM.

In other news, one of six American troops wounded during July 1 anti-coalition attacks in Iraq has died, according to a CENTCOM news release.

Assailants attacked the soldier's convoy – which was traveling through Baghdad -- with an improvised explosive device, the release noted.

The soldier -- a member of the Army's 352nd Civil Affairs Command – was evacuated to the 28th Combat Support Hospital for medical treatment, but succumbed to his wounds. Two other troops were injured in the attack.

The name of the deceased soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Three other Americans serving in Iraq were wounded July 1 in a separate incident, according to Combined Joint Task Force 7 officials.

Bomb making class. "House of worship." Something here just doesn't seem right...

Add: "presence of evil in the world" and it makes sense.

There shouldn't be a mosque left standing anyplace on the planet.

Can you imagine all the radioactive material, bio/chem junk, and explosives we'd find if we did search all the mosques in this country?

Delouse them, and burn them all to the ground and turn the ground that was desecrated by the presence of it with pig farms.

["If they kill one of us, we will kill 10 of them..."]

Earth to evil bastard and stupid idiot muslim shit-for-brains and worthless piece of offal: The kill ration so far has been about 50,000:1 in OUR favor. Better get a new plan.

We just got a brand new Mosque in our area that got a huge write up complete with pictures in our liberal rag's religion section last Sunday. You would have thought it was the grandest thing to hit Fresno since the railroad. All I feel about it is fear.

They forgot to use the "cone of silence" bombmaking module.

[The imam, Laith Khalil, was teaching a small group of students about 10:50 p.m. when the boom came.]

Sorry to be yelling, but I seriously think that we should be inspecting ALL mosques and treating them as arms caches.

I completely agree.

Due to a scheduling error, imam Laith Khalil of Fallujah's al Hassan mosque will NOT be appearing on tomorrow's Farm Film Report & Celebrity Blowup as previously announced.

But we're sure he blowed up real good!

Is that a typical activity for a mosque? And what about mosques here in the US? What are they doing?

The US government needs to be giving EVERY IMAM in the USA a serious rectal exam right now before before WE THE PEOPLE decide to do it ourselves.

I say, SEARCH EVERY MOSQUE ON AMERICAN SOIL......ASAP

Bump to that, they are not religious structures, they are military ones.

Par for the course. We had one of these in Khost a few months back. They were apparently fitting the car bomb in the car -- two guys and a girl (well, that's the best guess based on the parts count that turned up).

And there was another one recently: Afghan Killed by Own Explosives in Kabul. [AfghanNews.Net]

And, truth be told, compared to Arabs, Afghans on average are a lot less literate thanks to the unending civil war, but a lot smarter. So we're going to see more of these terrorist "own goals" in Iraq.

One thing you'll never learn in the lib-rags, but it's absolutely true: most of the people in Iraq, and in Afghanistan, suppport their new leaders. What the press is doing in Iraq is focusing on the disaffected former Saddam henchmen... kind of like if they were reporting from Germany in December 1945 and only presenting the ex-SS viewpoint. (Which today's news"men" probably would have done).
