Nobody does. Who thought he'd be caught, much less caught in Murphy, North Carolina, dumpster diving at 4 a.m., by a rookie cop to boot?
I can sympathize. When our neighbor's daughter was murdered by a jail escapee, the cops and press descended on our neighborhood like a horde of locusts. The press was worse than fly paper--we couldn't even go outside without a camera & microphone stuck in our faces about how we FEEL (and you're going to get that, too, until they get bored). The cops, by comparison, treated us very well, even though most, if not all, the neighbors had to be questioned.
