THE REAL SCANDAL OF IRAQI RELIEF
New York Post ^ | 5/11/03 | JONATHAN FOREMAN

THEY come from all over the world. Their supposed mission is to help the people of Iraq. Their concerned frowns and even their clothes all proclaim the message: "We're the good, caring people . . . and you're not."

But if actions speak louder than words, then many of the international charitable organizations called NGOs (non-governmental organizations) here are less interested in doing good works than in moral posturing and haranguing the army that won a war most of them opposed.

This is a scandal indeed. Why isn't this running on the front pages of the NY Times and Washington Post.

BTW -- I think this is more than editorial they are citing factual news, I am adding "Front Page News", I hope it stays there. More people need to know this.

NGO's are there to gum up the works. It sounds as though they are being successful. They are paid handsomely by the UN. Your tax dollars and contributions to the UN are at work.

I think you are right, this is not mere incompetence, this is deliberate sabotage.

So many outrages in this article and so little time.

The soldiers must doff their rifles and sidearms before they enter the area because the NGO folk - who depend on these men and women for their protection - object to the presence of firearms.

Take names and check the books. These folks bought Saddam's lies and blamed US for the suffering of the Iraqi people. That alone makes them unfit for their "humanitarian" leadership roles. An honest "humanitarian" would not have ignored the massive evidence of Saddam's brutality (from long before this or the 1991 Gulf War). An honest NGO worker would be thanking our military and doing all they could to help. So, it must be greed and/or power or a political agenda with these NGO workers. That "NGO" title beats "Chief Dishwasher." The mob of thieves stealing from US taxpayers by outrageously exploiting the world's most vulnerable is growing by the day.

I heard that this has also happened in Afghanistan... I was hoping the US would put something else in place instead. (We'll be blamed for problems no matter whose fault they are.) Once again the UN -world's largest "boysclub" - manages to muck things up.

The NGO folk come in various types. There are the churchy-hippie guys, like the bearded, earringed representative from Christian Peacemaker Teams. There are the sullen Frenchmen in linen shirts. There are the pretty, privileged-looking girls in clothes that wouldn't look out of place in the streets of SoHo.

WHAT they all seem to have in common is opposition to "George Bush's war" - and a desire, conscious or not, to justify that stance retroactively by finding fault with the American regime here.

Characterizing "Christian Peacemakers" with "finding fault with the American regime," and ANY analogy to the French is slanderous and just plain bullsh*t -- and BAD bullsh*t at that.

Some cowardly authors it seems need to "balance" any criticism of the Left and cover themselves with bashing Christians no matter how absurd the claim. This kind of pandering has become habitual ploy and I'm sick of it.

If the NGO whiners keep quitting and going home, they'll be nobody left to get the work done except ..........the missionaries.

These misinformed, arrogant and rude wankers bombarded a shocked Lt. Gen. McKiernan with loud accusations at the Coaltion Joint Task Force briefing in Iraq today. Never mind the facts that we're in a nation of 24 million newly-freed Iraqis w/ few casualties daily, or Iraqis in Mosul just held the first election ever - days ago, or the new power plants (destroyed by Saddam's neglect and bombing) are being fixed by US - many running for the first time in years - forget the relative calm in a once oppressed and tortured nation, forget that these same accusers defending Saddam Hussein and still whine - even as mass-graves are being uncovered across the country. NO, according to these busybody leftist NGO/media liars who continue to intentionally undermine our efforts in Iraq - the whole country's going to hell and it's all our fault.

Lt. Gen. McKiernan and every appeaser needs to go. For the sake of the coalition, the Iraqi people, the free world - these mischief-makers need to leave Iraq - now! Bring in Lt. Gen. Michael Moseley and Lt. Gen. Abizaird to handle the press briefings. We don't simply need honest adults informing this powerful, corrupt press - we need babysitters who won't let the kids get away with these dangerous games.

Put the wankers on mass-grave digging duty - overseen by families of the tortured and murdered. Let them face what they continue to excuse!
