Sean Penn's stolen 1987 Buick Grand National has been recovered by police, but two guns that were inside the car remain missing.

The car was found Saturday in Richmond, about nine miles from the Berkeley street where it was stolen Tuesday.

A loaded 9mm Glock handgun and a .38-caliber Smith and Wesson revolver that were left inside the car haven't been found, Richmond police Sgt. Enos Johnson said.

The three-time Academy Award nominee had a concealed weapons permit for the guns, police said.

No one was in the vehicle when it was recovered, and no suspects have been arrested in the case, police said. The limited-edition Buick did not appear to be damaged, Johnson said.

The car was stolen off a busy Berkeley street while Penn and his assistant ate lunch at Venus restaurant.

Penn lives in Marin County with his wife, actress Robin Wright Penn, and their two children. He's expected to begin shooting a new film called "The Assassination of Richard Nixon" in Oakland next month.

There is an odor to this that just wont go away, isn't there?
If he was going to carry one around in the trunk wouldn't he be obliged (in CA) to have a gun lock on the gun? He'd have to be liable for that gun at least.
At a minimum this "very mellow" guy should have his license pulled.

Betcha there's no tread left on the rear tires, though.

****And if that gun is used in a crime is he liable?***

Of course not! You sue the manufacturer of the gun for not forseeing the gun would be stolen!

NO ONE, I repeat, NO ONE gets a CCW in the bay area of CA unless you have money. This scum bag gets a permit with a history of agressive behavior? Go figure...

But for family I would have left long ago, this place is a liberial sewer.

"...'87 Buick Grand National?!..."

It's a Classic, HHFi. Buick had to sell a few to the public in order to race them in the Busch series.

It is one-quick-six, and originals are real hard to find. Penn's just a gearhead with money...........FRegards

[The plot of the movie mentioned in the article: 'The Assassination of Richard Nixon'. Seems somewhat disconcerting after 9/11. ]

A desperate insurance salesman (Sean Penn) plans an assassination attempt on Richard Nixon by crashing a plane into the White House in order to make his mark on history.

Classic example of liberal wishful thinking.

Mother of Sniper Victim Lobbies for New Gun Laws

One bill would expand the ban on assault-type weapons, while another would expand ballistic fingerprinting from handguns to all firearms. A third measure would require gun owners to report lost or stolen weapons to police within 48 hours or face penalties if the guns are used in crimes.

Hasn't Penn been jailed for assault and hospitalized for drug dependency?

Don't these both make him inelgible for pistol ownership, much less a CCW?

The edicts only apply to us serfs, not the nobles.

yeah, those were faster than a corvette off the line. don't know about top speed. The grand national only had about 200+ HP, but it had an insane 380 fp of torque or so.

it would be the ultimate sleeper if it weren't for the limited edition rims, the hood scoop and only coming in black. but most people still didn't know what they were.

then if you got the even faster GNX (only 200 made I think) you were really stylin'

very rare and very cool.
