Interesting live footage on CNN
Posted on 04/12/2003 9:27:32 PM PDT by saquin
CNN reporter Brent Sadler traveling on a road very near Tikrit. The retired military officer in the studio keeps telling him to be careful. I find these live shots very nerve-wracking. It seems rather foolish for a reporter to be doing this, considering that Tikrit is a Saddam stronghold. Just a heads-up in case anyone is interested.

"...action?"
Yes. I thought that is why the military did the embedded reporters thing so we could see. Frankly, it does not interest me to see whether Rick Leventhal shaves or not.
Tonight was the best night so far, to me. he-he

CNN just reported from Pentagon that the story the teacher gave Brent could not be confirmed by Pentagon - that negotiations were underway. So, could that have been a lure?

If he had been killed, I would have felt as bad as when Ernie Pyle was killed...

I heard tonite that Geraldo Rivera had met up with some of our troops and most of the GI's would not shake his hand. But some of them did, after sticking their hand down their pants!

"So has CNN screwed up the surrender by entering the area and firing at the Iraqi's?"
Sadler running a checkpoint or not has no affect whatsoever on whether they surrender...what matters is Saddam's gone, and the 4th ID is coming up from Kuwait.
The checkpoint guards had to have known the truck was from CNN..

"The Brit who's teeth are glued together. I CANNOT STAND LISTENING TO HIM"
And what's with the "Military Analyst" who's missing his bottom teeth?
CNN can't afford to buy dentures for their guests???

The governor's a Ba'athist...there's no way he would've let those guys go.
They were smart to turn around.

"...the reason they couldn't stop at the Governor's office is because they would have been subject to summary execution as armed combatants out of uniform."
They weren't "combatants" until AFTER they turned around and the guards with the AK's motioned for them to stop.
If they had continued into Tikrit and gone to see the governor, they wouldn't have been combatants, they would've been a TV crew that had a weapon for self-defense.
