Good Morning.

This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.

It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help!  If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

*bonk* University of Austin. Forgot about that place. Know many useful idiots from there. :p Sigh. If Texas ever completely falls to the Dark Forces of Streisand, I'm moving to...uh...Alec Baldwin's guest house, while he's in France.

"The University" paid Willy Jeff $100K last month to speak. Got FReeped to hell and gone, though :-). There are a few good folks undercover here.

You should post a picture there of Saddam reading to the thousands of women and children he has tortured for the past 20 years. And throw in some gassed kurds too.
Its all about the children...isn't it?

Ugh, that IS awful. Heh, they "finally" figured out how to block IPs (one line of script, wow, they're GENIUSES over there, heh).

Is it just me, or has liberalism just...gotten...more awful with each passing day? I remember "older school" liberals who were really good people, just terribly wrong. I put Dukakis in that category; I've met the man, he's incredibly nice (but cheap, heh), sincere, believes he's doing the right thing, completely wrong about everything, but...I mean, that sort of liberal would never let a picture like that hang around. I guess that sort of liberal isn't the Pitt kinda liberal -- God *doesn't* see him anymore.

It makes me feel sorry for the few liberals of conscience left...there *are* a few...open-minded, will debate with you, won't call you Pure Evil for being conservative...but there seem to be less of them each day.

(my personal theory is that Clinton himself destroyed what was left of the "credible", and I use the term loosely, liberals -- by selling them out completely)

With one email, and a link to the pictures of the dead Kurdish kids, I brought an anti-war Libertarian around to "our side" two weeks before the 48-hour ultimatum.

Sick stuff -- and the folks over at DU don't have a problem with it. At any time of day, you can find current posts saying that President Bush is worse. Sick stuff.

As a former part of the "Berkeley Underground" (too conservative for the Berkeley Young Republicans! heh) -- keep up the good fight, it's tough, it can lose you a lot of dates (just lie sometimes if the liberal girl is pretty enough :p) -- but I have no doubt the underground is vibrantly alive there, because I remember the hushed, "I agree with you, you know," remarks snuck to me after I'd launch into a political tirade after a few too many shots of JD (ahh, I have forsaken the amber fluid since then) in the middle of a bunch of granola-chomping hippies who would mostly step back from me like they'd been verbally b*t*hslapped. :-)

I would imagine most Libertarians on that site would, if they really are Libertarians, get sickened quickly enough and make that small leap to small-l libertarian, which...composes a large percentage of the FReeper population. That is GREAT that you brought someone around. Changing minds is a tough thing to do (I spend my life trying to do it for profit :p).

Been there, done that -- a lot...

Converted the one I've spent the last 23 years with, too -- and never regretted it. She still tries to lay a little granola on me now and then, but has been cooking great steaks for over 20 years!

Oh, Thank God, so you mean there's a chance I'll find a girl I won't break up with over, say, arguments involving Israel/Palestinian "moral equivalency" arguments and stuff, heh? -- not kidding, one of the last straws with her was a dead acquaintance (and I do mean "acquaintance", not a good friend) of hers who had died in the 9/11 attacks suddenly diving her the right to tell me that my friends in the Gulf protecting our freedom "knew what they signed up for and I don't give a s**t how many of them die" (nail in the coffin, that one was :p).

Yep. This guy is very conservative (not a DU-er), and very smart, just had a hang-up about some "big-L" things... See my post on the last thread...

Oh, my, I'm footnoting myself... Time to go snuggle for a while and crash!

Dunno... My "secret" was finding one so nuts about me that she couldn't imagine my being wrong about anything :-).

She's learned better in 23 years, of course, but I "fixed" her first!

No, the "awfuls" were always there. They're just more visible since the decent libs have all become Republcans!

I see there's a White Car Convention on the BagCam this morning. Don't they let the colored cars come downtown on Sunday?

LOL -- no kidding: I reached for the TV "off" button, and they started talking about Al-Qaim (my particular interest the last 24 hours - why is it so important?).

I sleep well -- when I crash, I'm out; the world goes on around me (3 kids, 13, 15, and 19 doing their thing, and a 17-pound cat that flops across my legs as soon as he knows I'm asleep), but I don't notice a thing until the clock goes off (unless it's nighttime, when a footstep on the driveway has me wide awake in a heartbeat).

Back to re-runs on Fox -- this time I'm _really_ going to bed!
