An Iraqi Colonel has approximately the same command authority as a U.S. Army Sgt. Per a FOX military commentator.

Actually, Simon said [lol]...that is a joke that is going around on the streets. I took it to mean the Iraqi citizens were the ones telling it.
To: Dog
they can always dial 1-800-surrender per the press briefing earlier today

To those who think we want to take over their countries:
Visit America.
We have everything we want, and more than almost everyone else, (through the grace of God and hard work...)

Residents of Kirkuk wave the Kurdish flag on top of a pedestal where a statue of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) used to stand as they celebrate the ousting of government forces from Kirkuk, Iraq (news - web sites) April 10, 2003. Under pressure from Turkey, the U.S. said on Thursday American forces would be in control of oil-rich Iraqi city and agreed to Ankara sending military observers. Turkish officials had sought U.S. reassurance that Kurdish 'peshmerga' fighters who have taken over Kirkuk would not be allowed to establish a new state because of fears it could spark rebellion in Turkey's own mainly Kurdish southeast. That was Chip. Short, concise, no time wasted. No messing with his hair.

It's been relatively quiet today...
Much earlier there was a homicide bombing at the Palestine Hotel that injured 4 Marines...fire fight in Baghdad that left 23 injured and 1 or 2 dead (I don't remember which)...the Marines that Rick Leventhal is with found a truck that may be a mobile weapons lab...possible find of plutonium.... I think that's all.

Also heard the reporter say that the guy who jumped in the vehicle that was already burning said he would go do it because he didn't have any kids...I heard that about the guy without kids, too. I didn't follow why the guy needed to get in the burning vehicle though. Why it needed getting into.
I also did not follow who already had the purple heart--though I heard it mentioned. I was trying to do a couple things at once so couldn't pay the closest attention, but as it went on I had to make sure others had a chance to look.
Lester Holt just said they'll be discussing again.....tune in MSNBC and hopefully a replay...
