Reading A_Conservative_in_Cambridge's question about FReeper musicians (noting how the Left likes to turn out with their silly little drums), in his excellent report on the Rally in Harvard Square (that's right!), I got to wondering how many pipers and Scottish drummers there are among Freepers (I know of one locally). This would be an excellent opportunity to put down the Left even further, by turning out for rallies.

It's been awhile, but I've been both a piper and parade drummer. Kindly include me on any resulting ping list.

For those who don't know anything about Scots, in battle they were refered to as the Ladies from Hell. More precisely and more alliteratively, as The Ladies from Hades.

Have we started something? ATTENTION DC FREEPERS: PLAY IN A PATRIOTIC BAND FOR THIS WEEKEND'S RALLY
Let us hope so. But I think you should be the point of contact for the Highland Freeper Pipe & Drum Corps, it having been your post. Or corpse, as it may be.

I have a 16 year old niece who plays the bagpipes. She's pretty busy marching in parades. They just received their new schedule of parades. She's also a brown belt in karate. I'll ask if she's interested in freeping a rally in Boston. She's performed at a couple of weddings. She also played at a service for one of the victims of the 9-11 plane crashes. His daughter is a school chum. They were to play in the New York Tartan parade last weekend but it was cancelled due to icy conditions on the highways.

I've been a big fan of Drum and Bugle corp for over twenty years. I've been to the Drum Corp International world championship 3 times - twice in Birmingham and a couple of years ago at the University of Maryland. My favorite corp was the 27th Lancers fom the Boston area but they are now defunct. Danny Boy was the best! I was in the Ohio State University Marching band from 76-80 and still march once a year in the alumni game. I think a couple of bugles, a couple of bag pipes and a few drummers and you're all set.
