One of the little known things about Saddam is his back problem. He's scaled back his public appearances these last few years because he can't walk more than a few yards without great effort and didn't want to give any indication of his weakness (among other reasons). I doubt that the years have improved his condition. It's most like a double in an old video.

That, and I understand that he was diagnosed with lymph cancer back in 1998 or 1999. I don't think he'd be looking too good. Add to that the effect of a couple of bunker busters coming down on his bunker, and he is looking remarkably well. It will take a lot more "proof" than these dismal theatrics to convince me that Saddam OR his sons are alive.
