Rally to Support the Troops Bushnell Park, Hartford, CT Sat, April 5 3:00pm

Per Brad Davis' radio show (AM1360 Mon-Sat 5:30-10am) these folks are planning the rally- New Life Church in Meriden. I am not affiliated with them and this is not a FR-organized event. We should plan to get there early and stay late. Often, local TV cameras show up before the event even starts- or at the very tail-end.

Middletown & Hartford in same day- this works out great- we can get to the Hartford rally early, too.

I called the organizer of the Hartford Rally today- he emailed this to me- has some more details:

"Support the troops rally to be held on Saturday, April 5th
A state wide rally to show support for military troops and their families will be held Saturday, April 5th at 3:00 p.m. The rally will gather at Bushnell Park in Hartford. Organizers invite all citizens, especially family members of those presently serving, veterans, and all public officials. Music, prayer and words of encouragement will be offered. Those attending are asked top bring law chairs and American flags and yellow ribbons. Active duty personal are invited to come in uniform. The event is supported by The Connecticut American Legion, The Antique Veterans, the Marine Corp League, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Governor John Roland, Senator Thomas Gaffey, Representative Jim Amann and Representative Mary Fritz. He was thrilled to know we'd be joining him. He is also getting the word out thru mass-emailing at big local co's, like ins. co's, and every business affiliated with a chamber of commerce in the state! The Gov and Rob Simmons will also speak. Spread the word to friends on your own email lists and ask them to pass it on! Put up a sign at your grocery store, donut shop, everywhere- enlist your kids to help you. This is really gonna be a huge one!
Parking won't be much of a problem- as Hartford is pretty dead on the weekend, I think.

Is there some way to let the troops in country know that rallies such as Hartford are being held to show our support of them?

Oh, I'm glad you asked that, monafelice. The organizer told me that he is having the Hartford Rally FILMED, and they are going to try to distribute the tape to the troops- as well as set up a website with streaming video. That's fantastic.

Wow, that is fantastic! Thanks for starting this thread and doing so much of the 'legwork' on this rally. We plan to be there!

Surgery went well...I don't think I'll make it to Hartford, but I *think* I'll be able to make the Middletown rally!

My brother is a high school student and has several friends who are also in support of our troops and the war. He's sending all information along to them as well.

I heard on Hannity today that there are something like 93 rallies taking place this weekend all over the country! (He was looking at the rally list at NewsMax.com)
