The only unprecedented entity is the UN - dysfunctionality on that level is unprecedented. Otherwise, this is really just a continuation of the Gulf War: Iraq agreed to terms of cessation, then failed to live up to those terms.
A great deal of blather for such incorrect assumptions...

I respect your opinion, bobber58. Yet, I think George Bush faces an enemy far more horrific, and unpredictable, too, than a school-yard bully.
In the act of war on Iraq, he faces radical Islam, the War on Terrorism, the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, and weapons of mass destruction in the hands of Saddam Hussein in Iraq and possibly Al-Queda.
He has no idea what any one of these groups will do.
He faces the vociferous protests of people world-wide, including his own nation, who just don't understand that, if we are to have a secure future, we must discard old rules and ways of thinking, and face these monsters.
Escaping old patterns of thinking and breaking old rules are not easy endeavors. Knowing when it is required, and possessing the courage and determination to do so - despite the naysayers --are characteristics of great leaders, imo.
