Got back from Rally for America in Valley Forge. Planning stunk. It took an hour to get the last mile to park. Then there was 2,000-3,000 people waiting for the shuttle buses. Got on one and drove to the rally site. Bus was not permitted to unload. So we drove back to parking site. 1210 didn't even cover the event on the radio. The site had too much traffic for the roads and I assume we were turned away because of too many people. Post your comments here.

NBC Channel 10 in Philadelphia just gave it great coverage! I was soooo surprised. I heard about the problems getting there and decided to stay home and I'm sorry I missed it. I taped it on the computer and am getting ready to post it on my website. I'll let you know when it is up.

Got to the parking lot with DaughterOfMordor a little after 1pm. There were 3,000 waiting for the bus. At about 1:50 they announced that the rally area was full and no more busloads would be transported
We got into the car and drove to the rally site about 7 miles away. Bumper-to-bumper traffic for miles before the site, with people walking beside the road with rally signs the whole way. We arrive as the rally is starting to break up at 2:50pm. I drop off DaughterOfMordor and try to find a parking spot up the road, finding one vacated by a departing attendee.
I asked one cop, and he estimated 8-10,000 people showed up. Awesome. Getting back to the car later and getting back to the highway was another long expedition.
Bottom line: the event organizers WAY underestimated how many people would show up. The beautiful weather probably helped attendence

I was there with a number of my friends and we only had problems getting home. The crowd was large and enthusiastic, I thought. Sorry I missed seeing you, maybe next time I will find you. I can't wait to see the Channel 10 coverage. Thanks.

Great photos from both of you! I am so glad to hear that so many people showed up to support the troops that there wasn't room for them all -- that's disappointing to the ones who didn't make it to the main rally, but so heartening after seeing so many anti-war rallies bringing in great numbers of people and getting all the media attention.
Sorry I couldn't make it there today -- busy planning the rally in DC next Sunday. FReep On!

Actually there is a bright side .. the road the Conference Center is on is VERY Busy from folks heading to Valley Forge Park or to the King of Prussia Mall
Sounds like even more folks driving in the area were able to see all the support for our troops

Just read Philadelphia Inquirer article that estimates crowd of 6,000. If 2-3,000 couldn't get to the site that could put it at 8,000-10,000 or so.

Glenn Beck's website reporting 10,000+ at Valley Forge
To: abner
I just watched the link for news coverage on your website. It was great and the balloon looked very good.
The reporter mentioned the Rally for America scheduled for Richmond next week and gave DC a plug, too!
Thanks for posting the link.

We have a good rally planning here, and Get ready to gather with some true American patriots in Downtown Scranton to show support for our United States military troops and to stand behind America and our Leaders. Bring your flags, don your red, white and blue, bring your supportive signs and gather with the rest of us to show our troops, our country and the world your support. The directions to the rally on our site we have many great speakers. For more info email me at

LOL! We have to stop meeting like this - sometime in the 22nd Century! Glad to see the balloon on a major news outlet.
Enquiring minds are looking for photographic evidence of Taxman's first solo hot air balloon flight?
great video!
