what bothers me is you neglected to read the linked article below by one of my fsvorite conservative Americans - how Rumsfled is pretty much hated in the Pentagon...or is that a false story too?

I've read articles like that before. There are certainly a lot of folks in the Pentagon whose toes Rumsfeld has stepped on. I don't doubt that a lot of them complain to the press about it. Rummy's job is to reform the military. He is in my mind the perfect man for the job, and if some of the brass don't like it, too bad. Rumsfeld was voted one of the 10 toughest bosses in the US when he was in civilian life, so I'm not surprised that some people are going to complain.

Sorry to hear that Robert Novak is one of your favorite "conservative" American authors. He has always been totally pro-Arab, and an appologist for Arafat and the Saudis. I put little credence in what he has to say.

The genisis of the pentagon/military reaction to Rumsfield is that he has a tendency to micromanage things. I'm not sure that's still true though..... just too much going on.
