I would argue that Saudi Arabia is the nexus of terror, actually.

Pakistan strikes me as being the clearing house, but without Saudi funding most of these guys would never have achieved the level of sophistication they have today.

The manhunt for Osama bin Laden has become more urgent because of growing fears among intelligence officials that he is obsessed with building a nuclear bomb to explode on U.S. soil.

So does this mean his status is back on "alive"? I'm so glad that W was saying a while back that he didn't consider catching Osama to be all that important. Well, at least he's passing another PATRIOT act to spy on us. I guess that makes up for it.

Somebody needs to say it and KEEP saying it until the governmental officials 'get' it---They can't terrorize us with anything if they ARE NOT HERE! Not a one of them. All illegals, all Muslims period.
If the bubonic plague had been fought like terrorism, we would have examined rats one by one so only the 'guilty' were destroyed. Excuse me?! If the evil emanates from Islam this country will NEVER be safe until Islam is banished as a subversive and terrorist 'religion'.
Who are the terrorists? Where are the terrorists who would nuke us from within? Look around- at your local mosques, behind the counters of convenience stores- smiling, pretending- just as the perpetrators of 9-11 did.
It does little good to destroy terrorists on the other side of the planet if we don't start with the ones right here.

That is my assessment as well. I wonder if the ISI has figured out yet that as far as their fundraisers are concerned, they're just pawns in a larger struggle.

From Reuters (almost exactly one year ago, interestingly enough):

Bush pointed out that lately he "hadn't heard much" from bin Laden who, in the past, has been seen on videotape and said he did not believe the Saudi exile was "at the center of any command structure."

"I truly am not that concerned about him ... I was concerned about him when he had taken over a country, I was concerned about the fact that he was basically running Afghanistan and calling the shots for the Taliban."

Good try, but that's not really the same as:

The man keeps a scorecard in his desk. While he's right to take some emphasis off of Bin Laden (to keep the "war is failing" crowd quiet), Bush also said "dead or alive" related to OBL. Neutralizing this coward is certainly important to President Bush, not to mention the rest of America.

"Truly not that concerned about him" isn't the same as considering him not all that important? You may believe that he didn't mean what he said, but that doesn't change the fact that he said it. Was it just strategery? I don't know. To me, it at least raises questions about how serious he is about catching him - or about anything else he purports to care about, for that matter.
