"No Longer Your Grandparents' Democratic Party"
ChronWatch ^ | March 14, 2003 | Kevin Willmann

Once upon a time, there was a Democratic party which had leaders like Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman, and John F. Kennedy, who believed in a strong military. These men realized evil existed in the world and the only way their threat could be removed was by force.

There are still many Democrat voters who believe as those men did. But there is a disconnect between those voters, as well as middle-America voters, and the elected leadership of the Democratic party. Today, the Democratic party of FDR, Truman, and JFK no longer exists. Instead, most of the current Democratic leaders in Congress have shown that they don’t give a damn about the security of the American people, nor the morale of our military, unless there is political opportunity in store for them.

A Democratic congressperson is more likely to be found speaking at an anti-war rally instead of supporting our military. When Tom Daschle, Nancy "Nurse Diesel" Pelosi, Hillary "Evita Perron" Clinton, Ted Kennedy, or former Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton speak, they give the impression to Americans and the world that George W. Bush is a bigger threat than Saddam Hussein.

The lies of a ''pre-emptive war,'' or ''rush to war,'' are heard from elected Democrats as repeatedly as their 23 year-old lie of ''tax cuts for the rich.'' There is also the strategy of distracting from the threats abroad by continuously talking down an economy which is trying to climb up out of the dot-com bust.

Remember Daschle's Mt. Vesuvius-style meltdown on the Senate floor last year? ''We ought not politicize this war,'' he self-righteously bellowed. He was the one who stalled a defense appropriations bill for eight months. He sounded like a hawk when Bill Clinton made Iraq an issue in 1998. Yet, he has criticized Bush's Iraq operation, as well as the War on Terrorism. However, after Bush's September 20, 2001, speech to America, Daschle pledged unity with the Republicans while grinning to America like a snake-oil salesman.

Sen. Daschle, you are truly a partisan hypocrite. If anyone has politicized national security and our military actions, it is you and other members of your party. Where was your party when Bill Clinton pre-emptively bombed Kosovo in 1999? They were not a threat to our national security. Why is it your party never made Clinton go to the League of (United) Nations like you forced President Bush to do?

A new hero to the anti-war left is Senator Robert "Sheets" Byrd (D-KKK). The former Grand Kleagle’s Senate floor speech against a war with Iraq was put in a full-page New York Times advertisement by the group MoveOn.org. This group was founded by some Democrats in 1998 to fight Bill Clinton’s impeachment. Now it has transformed itself into an anti-war group.

Wait a minute, are you saying ''move on,'' after 3,000 of my fellow citizens were butchered on Sept. 11? Like hell, I will!

Even more despicable is the attitude of several elected Democrats in regards to Osama bin Laden and Iraq. In December, Sen. Patty ''Osama Mama'' Murray (D-WA) told a high school assembly that many in the Middle East saw bin Laden as a humanitarian who built roads, schools, and daycare centers.

''We haven’t done that,'' she then added.

Refering to the American Revolutionaries, Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio) last week told the Toledo Blade, ''One could say that Osama bin Laden and these non-nation state fighters with religious purpose are very similar to those kinds of atypical revolutionaries that helped cast off the British crown.'' Then, in a March 3 speech, Rep. James Moran (D-VA) said, ''If it were not for the strong support of the Jewish community for this war with Iraq we would not be doing this.'' All of these comments have not received media outrage similar to that of Trent Lott’s tribute to Strom Thurmond.

There is a difference between honest disagreement and partisan rancor. Elected Democrats, in their partisan opposition to a war they favored four years ago, are sending a dangerous message. Their actions encourage opposition to President Bush, domestically and internationally. This aids Hussein by giving him more time to prepare for whatever dirty trick he has planned, thus putting our military at greater risk.

Kennedy was the last of the old Democrats. His own party assinated him in order to make way for the new, improved, socialistic Rat Party.

P.S. When Kennedy took office, the highest income tax bracket was 91%. Through intense lobbying efforst and public campaigns, he managed to convince Congress to lower it to a mere 70%.

So it's 'conservative' to realize that there is evil in the world that has to be removed by force? Not sure I like this new hall of heroes the militarist 'conservatives' are constructing.

The dems could have gotten away with this pre 9-11. The "sleepwalking ones" have awakened, this issue is so chock full of emotion that revisionist history will not be a viable tool for the left this time.

This democrat party is socialist to its core, and they oppose this war because it will serve to advance the cause of capitalism.
