I hope as a result of these recent celebrity statements that companies start putting in contract clauses allowing the company to recover damages if the star steps in it after the deal is struck.

Lipton might just be a victim of circumstances here, more so than MCI in their debacle since Glover was a known quantity before MCI inked the deal. Still, Lipton needs to jettison this baggage now or at least make amends by also promoting Darryl Worley.

Anyway, yes, a star has free speech rights. But when the act of exercising that right tanks a multi-million dollar advertising campaign, there ought to be consequences back to the star.

Well, that's true, but we DO use Lipton soup, and their soft drinks like lemonade, etc.

And they don't KNOW that we don't drink tea!

Have the chicks been in Europe for a realllll long time? Are they (or their managers) not aware of what has been happening with Sheen and Garafilo? Them there girls just don't know what they did, do they?

The one in the middle is the lead singer. I recently bought Alison Krausse and Union Station's new "Live". It is great… two CDs of great enjoyment. I think the DVD is out by now.

AKUS supports our troops and their talent puts the "Clucks" to shame. My neighbor let me borrow "Home" and I didn't listen to it for long. After tasting the good stuff, rot-gut don't go down too easy.

Why an apology too Bill Clintoon for ripping President Bush. Why would they not say they were sorry too Bush himself.

Its really a shame that they had to disparage the President at a time of war on foreign soil. I'm sad to say no more Dixie Chicks CD's will be bought in this house. Is it just the lead singer or do the sisters say the same things?

BTW the "Dixie" Chicks should change their name to the "French Bitches." Or "Clinton's Gnew-kneepads.

How about the Chicksy Dicks?

I wrote this to the general manager of the largest radio station in the largest country music market in the world, Dallas.

Mr. Bason,

I have always been a fan of your station in DFW, and a loyal listener. So I thought I might drop you an e-mail about a concern I have that should concern you too.

I read today that the Dixie Chicks were in England and during their concert said "Just so you know, we are embarrrassed our President is from Texas". I decided to check it out and found it on several English News
websites.

I am astounded that they would go overseas, and trash our
President during a time of war! They just released a single about a GI and a young girl when he went off to war.
What hypocrits!

I realize they have a right to their opinion, but they do not have the right to use their celebrity to slam our president during a time of war, ever. I will never again listen to one of their songs, nor buy anything from an advertsement that sponsors them, unless they apologize or
explain their actions sufficiently.

I have also written to several Austin Stations, as well as CMT, as have many of my friends. In fact I was e-mailed about it while I was researching it.

I hope you will join us in speaking out against this type of behaviour from Country Music Celebrities. We already have enough Hollywood to go around.

Thanks

His reply and some links!

Hi Rick,
Thanks for writing. All I can say is that its amazing that they or any musical group thinks they have the right to do anything at a concert other than play the music everyone there paid to hear.

Take care,
LAB

What is that in the middle, a Jerry Springer guest?

She looks more like a Ditzy Chunk.

The singing group formerly known as the "Dixie Chicks" announce that they have accepted French citizenship and from now on will be called "Les Poulettes Renduées" (The Surrender Chicks)
