It was held on the steps of the Rotunda in front of a large statue of Thomas Jefferson at the University of Virginia. Most of the local Republican lawmakers, the local police chief and sheriff and a smattering of veterans from a number of different wars were in attendance. A number of local scruffy-looking peace groups set up politely 50 feet away and remained quiet during the talks.
The keynote address was given by Rep. Virgil Goode who gave a rousing speech that started quietly and built to a shout. He reminded all in attendance that the most of the men and women who were going into harms way were no older than the students attending the classes at the university.
I hope the peaceniks heard this.
{{{Hanging my head}}}Prayers for these heros.
