London cleric convicted for soliciting murder in sermons
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

A Muslim cleric who allegedly urged followers to kill "nonbelievers" was convicted Monday of soliciting murder.

A jury at the Old Bailey found Sheikh Abdullah el-Faisal guilty of three charges of soliciting murder, and three charges of incitement of racial hatred.

Sentencing was set for March 7.

El-Faisal, 39, denied encouraging anyone to commit murder, making threatening or abusive tape recordings and stirring up racial hatred.

Prosecutors said el-Faisal preached across Britain and sold Arabic-language tapes of his speeches in specialist shops. They said his sermons encouraged followers to kill Hindus, Jews and Americans.

El-Faisal, a Jamaican-born convert to Islam, was arrested in February and jailed for six months before being released on bail.

His lawyers argued that he was a respected cleric whose quotations from scripture have been taken out of context.

The case was the first prosecution in more than a century under the 1861 Offenses against the Person Act of soliciting murder against persons unknown.

"Allah" must be pronounced "Satan" in English.

I think that Islam is not a religion, but a cult, some thing that the world would be better off without.

This has MAJOR potential for problems! The Koran contains MANY verses that are similarly-worded. If it is upheld, then almost any Islamic service could be a violation.

This is a problem exactly how? It's about time to drop the "religion of peace" propoganda and to start calling Islam what it is. The best way to do that is to quote the Koran.

Well, of course, that is the $64 question. Isn't it?

Believers in what, exactly.

Amen. There's just something wrong with a religion that preaches/teaches hate and violence.

Revelation 9:11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

Looks like the same dude, sort of like asking, "Who's Astonished Now?"

Then I can only conclude that most sermons at mosques are incitement to murder, and are thus against the law.

Cheerio.

A Muslim cleric...

Why did I know that the story would start with this phrase?

The Koran contains MANY verses that are similarly-worded.

You mean verses that preach hate, violence and the killing of non-muslims?

If it is upheld, then almost any Islamic service could be a violation.

You mean it violates their right to preach hate, violence and killing of non-muslims? I thought so.

It seems the world is gradually dividing into two camps: muslims vs non-muslims and who's not with one camp must be with the other.

...not a religion, but a cult...

IMHO, there's a fine line between the two.
