The Sagebrush Saloon (Or, "What on earth is Dubya thinking?")
Sierra Times ^ | 2/22/03 | Henrietta Bowman

Posted on 02/22/2003 9:57:44 AM PST by hoosierskypilot

Dubya has repeatedly stated that terrorists are not true Muslims — that Islam is at heart a peaceful religion. Just because the Quran says:

"kill the disbelievers wherever we find them" (2:191);

"fight and slay the Pagans, seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem" (9:5);

"slay or crucify or cut the hands and feet of the unbelievers, that they be expelled from the land with disgrace and that they shall have a great punishment in world hereafter" (5:34)

and other little jewels of militant theology is no reason folks should get xenophobic and do something practical like profiling at airports, just because the 9-11 hijackers were all young Arab men instead of 80 year-old grannies in wheel chairs or nursing mothers with possible Weapons of Mass Destruction disguised as bottles of breast milk for their junior-grade terrorists.

It really makes you wonder if Dubya has ka-ka for brains when he invited Sami Al-Arian to the White House, who said, "Jihad is our path. Victory to Islam. Death to Israel. Revolution until victory. Rolling to Jerusalem." --Sami Al-Arian, Cleveland, 1998.

A video shows Al-Arian uttering such peace-loving jewels, as "Let us damn America. Let us damn their allies until death. Why do we stop?"

Standing under Islamic Jihad banners, Al-Arian expounded on his views of Christianity and Judaism: “God warns us in the Koran and he cursed them. He cursed those who are the sons of Israel through David and Jesus, the Son of Mary, because of their disobedience and they used to assail, they were not held back by any prohibition they committed. Those people God made monkeys and pigs.”

Now, Dubya has repeatedly put American dissidents and folks that plain just don't like his politics back in the North 40. Either his survival instincts are lousy, or it is pure politics to let a man like Al-Arian and his son, Big Dude (Dubya's nickname) within spitting distance of him. Either way, the Feds have known about Al-Arian for a very long time and he is just now getting busted. Do you feel safer?

Methinks Dubya's going to be a one-term wonder.

Jimmie and Rosalyn Carter once had their pics taken with John Wayne Gacy. He was a Democrat Party official. A President cannot be expected to know everyone's background, what they are involved in, and/or words they have stated. Looks to me more like a breakdown in staff "research."

At the present rate of spending on nearly everything imaginable, I believe it is possible that "W" will be the nominee from BOTH the Republican and Democrat parties in 2004, and he might win the election by a landslide.

I gave a lot of money to his 2000 campaign, and I want my money back.

Typical hit piece from Sierra Times. From the few screeds of theirs that have been posted here lately I know why I haven't been back there in quite some time. JJ & Co have become tin foil wearing Losertarians whose self importance far outweighs their collective IQs. The sad part is that they wrap themselves in the flag while doing all of their complaining, which tends to get some to believe the opinions of the staff. Pahrump NV is the perfect place for these folks - out of the way, 100 miles from nowhere.

W is the latest incarnation of the Hooverites.

I don't think Hoover is an adequate analogy. Hoover got a bad rap because he happened to be prez during the depression. But it had already started when he came to office.

Those of us who voted for Dubya are incensed, not at his economic policies, but because he is prostituting America to immigrants; because he lied about Islam being a religion of peace; and because his administration has implicitly embraced the homosexual community.

Well, here is one person who voted for W who ISN'T incensed.

Stop trying to claim that you are in the majority. You speak for yourself, not for all Bush supporters.

Possible should the NWO, Burgerbuilders, Illuminutty, CFR'rs, etc. decide that he no longer is doing their bidding... But if he's still in good graces then not to worry, he's in like Flynn for a second term....

........Those of us who voted for Dubya are incensed.....

You speaking for all?

Yes, you're right, I cannot speak for all Bush supporters. But I can tell you this: the Bush supporters I have spoken with are equally upset.

Bush has alienated the religious right by his acceptance of homosexuals and muslims. He has also alienated all who are injured by immigration.

Seriously, do you believe Islam is a religion of peace and that it has contributed much to world civilization over the years? Do you believe anybody who is reasonably well informed could believe such a thing? If you answer honestly, you'll say "no" to all the above.

Therefore, anybody who would answer in the affirmative is not telling the truth.

I was not meaning by analogy. It is the same corporate dynasty. It is old money and old influences that work behind the scenes. The Red Diamond corporation and its ilk.

Hoover was a business man who made money off of natural resources before being elected for office. They have just passed down the power since him in the Republican party. Ike warned about them in his Military-Industrial Complex message. Ike did not play along with them. Ronny did. . Daddy did, though he screwed up on rasing taxes, bringing him down in the power structure support scheme. W is, and will.

I cannot believe that you support protecting criminals (illegal immigrants). I cannot believe that you support destroying America simply for the sake of immigrant votes. I cannot believe that you support sacrificing our Social Security fund by opening it to illegal immigrants.

I also cannot believe that you think Islam is a religion of peace.

I don't believe it, and neither do you.

They amount to nobody. He doesn't need them. All he has to do is say "God" in public every now-and-again anyway and they will follow like sheep. Mexican workers are not hurting anything. They are taking jobs nobody else wants.

That's the plan...... move to the middle forcing the democrats further to the left..... Get the winning majority out of the middle thus making the right wingers of little consequence. After all a bunch of them voted for Gore last time around didn't they, or so the exit polls showed.

..better than you think...

Here's what I think. I think the religious right elected GW. I also think the religious right has been alienated by GW.

I think that the economy has been artificially stimulated by an inflated housing market. I think the inflated housing market has been supported by low interest rates. Interest rates have to go up. It's impossible for them to continue going lower, indefinately.

When interest goes up, people will not be able to afford new homes. When interest goes up, people with variable mortgages are not going to be able to keep their homes. Look at the Great Depression: a failed housing market, first, and then a failed automotive market were two key ingredients.

Who do you think will get the blame? Americans don't care about truth. They want a scapegoat. And the head scapegoat is GW.

O.K. So what happens in 2004? GW has alienated the religious right which elected him in the first place. Joe Q. Citizen blames GW because Joe Q. can't make his adjustable mortgage payments.

This is all happening as we speak. We're in a house of cards.

No, and I assume you're being sarcastic.

So, that means you support unrestricted immigration, legal and illegal, which is going to destroy America?

Do I believe Islam is a religion of peace? For some Muslims yes, for some, no. Just like for SOME Christians, Christianity is a religion of love and compassion, while for others it is a religion of judgement and intolerance.

If you do not understand why the President said those words after 9-11, you are not thinking about the security of the nation, nor do you understand the dynamic in the war on terror.

As far as homosexuals, he simply doesn't discriminate against them. That is the LAW, in case you haven't noticed, and he swore to uphold the LAW when he was sworn in.

I am not getting into the immigration discussion, because for those who are anti-Mexican, there is no improvement good enough with the exception of a 20-foot high electrified barb wire fence manned by machine gunners and backed up by land mines.

At any rate, your circle is disgruntled. People I know are quite pleased. I doubt either of us has the full story on the electorate as a whole, and I simply didn't like your claiming to speak for all of us.
