Sounds to me as if President Bush and the Republican Party has gone "wobbly" on us on this issue.

As my FRiend, Congressman "Duke" Cunningham once said: "What is it about 'illegal' you do not understand?"

As far as I am concerned, every person who is in this country illegally should be arrested, detained and immediately deported, and the sooner the better!

And we should militarize the Mexican and Canadian border ASAP to keep other illegals out!

I like "W," but on this issue and on the border control issue, he and the Republicans are not only wrong, they are violating the very laws they swore to uphold when they took their oaths of office.

This is just like the situation with the U.N. The Security Council passes a resolution saying Iraq must disarm, but does nothing when Iraq ignores the resolution.

The U.S. passes a law saying that illegal aliens must be deported. But when caught, only those illegal aliens deemed a security threat are deported.

Who's the hypocrite now?

There is a very good reason for this policy. If an immigrant feels there is a risk that they might be deported, there little chance that they will contact authorities if they overhear of are aware of suspicious activity. This policy is meant to send a signal that if one cooperates, they will not be deported. Remember how we criticized Clinton for gutting our intelligence by moving away from developing inside sources to dependence on high tech? Well we need tips from the inside, and this policy is intended to help cultivate such.

But of course all the above logic will be lost on the one-note wonder crowd. Its so much easier to cry "Free Barabas" over and over.

I'm beginning to lose my patience with Bush, not to mention the Republican party in general. Political correctness is taking us down the same road as the socialist Europeans. Sigh.

The Bush administration has rejected the prospect of mass deportations of Muslim illegal aliens.

Wow! I guess it is more important for the well to do to keep their house maids then it is to prevent terrorist attacks on our soil. I hope someone mounts a challenge from the Right in 2004; I might be looking for another candidate.

Agreed.

We better get off our duffs and force them to honor their Oaths of Office.

And let them know that they ignore their solemn oath the risk of losing their jobs.

So what? We don't have a right to enforce our own laws?

Another Dubya sellout on the border.. Loser! Traitor!

Benedict Dubya! CINO!!

You know, I think we should grant amnesty to all the people here being punished due to UN-Constitutional gun laws.. But, nahh.. That won't happen.

We choose to enforce those, it's just the border and immigration laws that may as well not even be on the books.

Not because they are UnConstitutional, but because they are "un PC"

Dubya Bush, our first foreign Presidente!

George loves his Muslims.

Now, now. "The Bush administration" isn't the same as Bush - in fact it contains more old clintoonies than you can shake a stick at. Let's see what develops. Cleaning out the old fifth column isn't done in a day...

The Bush administration has rejected the prospect of mass deportations of Muslim illegal aliens.

Why?
The operative word here is illegal.

I think said administration owes its citizen an explanation.
"... has rejected..."" sounds so arbitrary and non-sensical without some additional explanation.

Cleaning out the old fifth column isn't done in a day...

We can start in 2004 by not re-electing a President who cares more about illegal immigrants than he does American citizens. Bye bye Dubya.

If President Bush deports all the Muslim illegals on the basis of enforcing The Law, he won't have any excuses to not deport Mexican illegals on the basis of The Law.

And we couldn't deport those "willing workers". Better that we should live under constant threat of terrorist attack.
