What man can morally and ethically do using the Empirical Method is a wondrous display of the volitional creature that God made in his image. However, the most common fallacy of theorists, it seems to me, is to overextend their theories.

The Empirical Method does not "exist in a vacuum." The scientific process is only one of tne many ways in which man functions. It is a dishonest shame to take it and spread it over religion, culture, philosophy, politics, etc. so as to deny the processes of mind and heart that are appropriate to their own disciplines.

The Scientific Priesthood and its Inquisitors would cover all other epistemological and ontological aspects of self and human relational groupings under its cowl (or lab coat, as the case may be) and attempt to snuff them out.

But the "The Light shines in the darkness," though "the darkness did not comprehend it."

As would the theists who guard their dogma from objective reason, as if protecting their source of power. There is fault to be found at the extremes on either side, and the truth, as well as we can comprehend it, will most likely be somewhere in the middle.

I agree with you. The scientific method is a problem-solving technique, not theology. Science tells us that the universe was created and that it will end. As a matter of common sense, it makes more sense to believe that a divinity created this universe, and for all we know, the infinite number of universes that surround it, than to say it just happened. Also, it's easier to live with the faith that God has a plan for us than to believe life is random and meaningless. Personally, I've had several extraordinary experiences in my life that are hard to attribute to chance. And my life has in no way been extraordinary.

True enough, but it is certainly the best method we've come up with so far for developing reliable knowledge about nature. So if a question is about nature it is the method that should be used.
