We call for the repeal of the 17th amendment, which will reverse the independence of the Senate and reestablish the Senate as a representative of the State governments, as intended by the Founding Fathers. I'd toss all 100 of them out. In my book, they're all compromised. Whether by their own fault or not, there are 900 FBI files floating around that compromises the whole body.

I'm not as concerned about the House, as there are 435 of them, their constituencies are pretty small, and they are up for re-election every two years, but there are only 100 Senators, they're there for six years at a time, and they have a HUGE impact on things.

All 100? There's a few strong ones on the GOP side. They just needed a strong leader like Bush to remind them of who they are and why they come to Washington to fight.

Was the 17th Amendment an unconstitutional amendment? Article V of the Constitution does not allow constitutional amendments that deprive a state of its equal representation in the Senate without the state's consent. Did the 17th Amendment deprive states that did not ratify of their equal representation without their consent?
