We had a great time FReeping under cloudy skies tonight in Fresno, CA! We had over 50 people rallying on our corner vs almost the same number of Hanoi Jane types on the other side of the street. We had about 16 of our regulars present plus about 35 people from a central valley Republican group. We also had 3 new Freepers join us from the Young Republican Federation of Kings County! Hoo-yah! Welcome to Free Republic!
Freepers and regulars present tonight:
- Jim, Sheila and Chris Robinson
- JustAmy and Leonard
- Mtngrl@vrwc
- Notpoliticallycorewrecked
- Saundra Duffy and Lager
- Stuart Weil
- FresnoArmyBrat
- Helena, Jonno and Sarah
- Dorothy
- Sarah
Plus 3 new FReepers who intend to register as IronMan, CreekBlood and BigDog assuming these names are available or something similar if not.
Tony Lee, a news caster from KMJ Radio, joined us for awhile. We also had a cameraman from KSEE TV videotaping the action and someone said a Fresno Bee reporter was there.
We were visited by a transvestite prostitute from the other side for awhile until the police came and chased him away. There were three police cruisers and a motorcycle cop on the scene. I was hoping they were gonna arrest the perp for soliciting for prostitution, but they only chased him away. Oh well. Maybe next time.
It was great FReeping with the three dozen or so local Republicans. Lots of enthusiasm, flags flying, colorful signs and banners. Thank you all very much for being there and for offering your support for our troops. The group took and held three corners of the intersection, leaving the pro-terrorists their regular position. I think we edged the darkside out in number and definitely had them surrounded. I'd say we undoubtedly put a damper on their anti-war protest!
As usual, our side received an overwhelming amount of horn honks (an almost solid din at times), waves, thumbs up and cheering from the passing motorists. The other side received very little in the way of crowd support. We also had two or three bullhorns present and we all enjoyed the chants, hoots and hollers.
We enjoyed the FReep very much. Thank you all for being there. We missed those of our regulars who could not be there tonight and hope to see you all next week.

Chris took a few photos at the start of the FReep. These photos do not do us justice. This was at the very beginning of the action and all the people were not there yet. JustAmy and mtngrl also took some photos and they will probably post them tomorrow or the next day.

Hey! It was light out!! How'd you manage that?
Keep up the good work on supporting the Troops.

Don't forget, big counter-protest tomorrow at noon in the Tower District. Hope to see you there!

I suggest we meet at about 11:30 to 11:45 Saturday morning in the parking lot across from their rally point. Then we can counter them from across Olive Ave. Bring flags, signs, bullhorns, cameras, videocams, etc. At the end of their rally, we can drive up Van Ness Ave and wait for them at the corner of Weldon and Van Ness near the FCC Campus. Wouldn't want their little "Peace March" to go uncountered.
Just a reminder: we were at peace before 9/11. The terrorists started this thing, but, God willing, we're gonna end it! Peace does not come without a price. Neither does Freedom!

Um, er, uh...YIKES! One of 'em got loose from Frisco?

CreekBlood may be one of the new guys. I believe he said he was already registered, but had not been posting much. Guess the others will have to make variations of their favorite nicks.

I think so. Don't know if he made much money tonight though. His bag of quarters looked a little on the limp side. Man, was he ever an ugly hooker.

Um...er...what are you trying to say? Have you been digging in my (recent) past? I've been trying to repress that memory. Succeeded too until now. Back to therapy. ;-)

I hope someone got a picture of this guy. He was really something to see. Looked like he'd been hit by an ugly stick. And it didn't miss. Notpoliticallycorewrecked said that at one point, he got into the face of one of the policeman. She said it looked like he was just about to the point of submitting to an involuntary take down. Now, that would've taught him a lesson (maybe) for hookering on our corner!
