A spokesman at the Austrian Embassy in Washington confirmed that the movement of U.S. troops was being temporarily blocked by his country...

Naw! Same size as always. The Austrians have always tended to shuffle behind the Deutschlanders whenever they get the opportunity.

I have less of a problem with this since Austria is not an ally. I can understand a neutral not wanting foreign troops crossing their territory on the way to war.

The real problem is with our alleged allies who are in actual opposition.

Ahhh, Austria. Birthplace of Adolf Hitler. Cradle of the Nazi expansion out of Germany. Nation who had former Nazi soldier Kurt Waldheim as their leader. Nation which still has a strong neo-Nazi movement.

Austria.... they just love their tyrants don't they ....

Yep, add another notch to the Axis of Weasel Tote Board

As of now they are no longer neutral. .... . They have decided to help Iraq instead of the United States

Extremely disappointed in the Austrians. Well, let them be "neutral" on terror. When the terrorists attack them, we will also be "neutral."

"The real problem is with our alleged allies who are in actual opposition."

Talks begin next week on long-term U.S. troop deployments in Germany.

I expect some major shufflling going on, but not at the expense of NATO.

True, we could regarrison in former Soviet satellites, but it would doom the future of NATO, which the U.S. will likely never do.
