Sheesh. The pair are guilty of their crimes, O fool. Only liberals and anarchists try to whine and moan over the consequences to actions. File this one under: "Actions Have Consequences."

That the sentence was legal does not make it just.

(:^D)

You've become a complete parody of yourself, CJ. Sure you wouldn't feel more at home with the Taliban?

Provide alcohol to my underage kid and this sentence is a walk in the park. An adult offering booze (beer and wine is booze) is a free pass for most kids. They have been taught to resist peer pressure but an adult? It's a blindside for most kids.
Article says teenagers were served at a birthday party. Not a graduation party with 17 and 18 yr olds. An open party with 13,14,15 yr olds being served alcohol. People want to screw up thieir own kids, have at it. The parents in a community trust other parents to "keep an eye out" for their kids when under their control, these parents violated that trust.

If you think that an 8 year sentence, based in part on the death of a girl that these people had nothing to do with, is "justice" you are a bigger idiot than everyone suspected.

Apparently, the couple's son dated the girl who was killed. But haven't you heard? We don't have to obey the laws if we don't 'feel' they are just. We'll just throw the f-word (fascist) around and whine about how this great country is a police state on par with Orwell's wildest dreams and hope that someone will pay attention to us.

BTW, here's the story from their local paper. To me, this was the 2nd publicized underage drinking incident in as many months, and the judge came down hard on it to send a message. Ooooh...that nazi. Let's all wish ill will on him and hope he dies!!!!!! (sarcasm)

I'm surprised that you'd go so easy on these people.

I'd have expected you to demand a SWAT raid, ('gotta crack a few skulls', I think you once said) shoot anyone who didn't freeze quickly enough, then have the state confiscate the entire assets of the family.

Wouldn't that teach'em to have more respect for The Law?

Why do you even want to live in a free country? You sure seem enamored with a strong governing all-mighty State.

just let the consequences be consistent with the crime. Rapists and child molesters get less time than this.

Do you think 8 years was a more fitting sentence than the prosecutor's recommendation for 90 days?

CJ, I am as anti-libertarian and Conservative as they come, but I have to agree that 8 years for serving beer to minors is too much.

Dear Mr. Jihad,

Your screen name says a lot to the world about your mind set and the fact that you know how it is received says even more. The obvious reality that even after 9/11 you still think the name is oh so keen does not indicate a healthy state of mind to rational observers. Your vigorous approval of an 8 year sentence in this case combined with your name would make one almost suspect that you are a leftist plant purposely trying to make conservatives look bad. After years of reading your posts I could almost believe that you are sincere in your utterings but I prefer to believe that you are an agent provocateur or better yet just a parody.

cordially,

So you cast the first stone? Perhaps you would like to elaborate on your own indiscretions. Ever broken the law without getting caught? Think carefully. The only thing that separates your own lawbreaking from theirs is that you did not get caught. There is not a person here who, if properly punished for every law they broke in their lives, would not be doing at least 20 years in prison.
