I don´t expect you to get a more positive view on the German government, but please of the German people who are willing to do their part in the war against terrorism and still consider the US as a friend.

Michael81Dus, I stayed in Germany one summer (in my college days) and I have many positive memories of the German people and of Munich in particular. The city was very clean and the people were courteous and friendly to foreigners. I was impressed with the high speed trains. Your country has a lot to be proud of.
I was also impressed with your bier halls but that was when I led a more raucous life, hehehe.

We remember September 11 when the sailors onboard the German warship said "we stand by you" to the sailors on the USS Winston Churchill. We were very grateful for that, it meant a lot. Your government needs to start thinking more of the West as a whole in a similar fashion. This Europe versus America act is getting very old, very quick.

Many Americans do have sympathy for the individual citizens of Germany, just not the leadership. What Republicans remember well was the utter disbelief and severe frustration we all felt as we suffered 8 years of Clinton speaking "for America" and enacting policy that damaged our country greatly.
Good luck in everything you are doing to change Germany's direction!

Germany, I think, will pull out of it. Some hits will have to be dished out over Herr Schroeder's comments and stuff, but we're probably going to be able to patch things up with a new non-Schroeder government there.
The big issue, IMHO, is going to be the French. They're doing a very good job of burning bridges and this Turkey matter will not help things.

Don't worry--most Americans understand the difference between what Herr Schroeder says, and what the German people know: America and Germany will stand together.
Viel danken!
Tschuess!
