That part made me jump, too. I was 5 when I saw that in the theatre... Years later, when we went to Well's Beach, I would swim underwater and tug on her feet...
I never knew mom could move that fast... ;0)

It's because he waits an extra beat. There's a certain rhythm to movie scares, you see something for so long then BAM the scare hits. Spielberg (who's still a great director when he feels like it, problem is he rarely feels like it anymore) shows you that hole in the boat for about 1/2 a second longer that he's supposed to, just long enough for you to decide nothing's coming but not so long you restart the countdown, then BAM.
You were a bad child. These days they'd dope you up for that kind of behavior.
Pillow calls. Don't worry eveyrone, no 12 year old have EVER been in my bed nor will they. Jacko makes me wish for the days of lynch mobs.
