I'm a fan from way back. One of my co-workers was a shop worker on '76 roookie of the year Bruce Hill's race team.

I apologize, we had an old fashioned craw dad boil after work today, and I must admit, I've got a buzz.

"I have very fond memories of following GENUINE Grand National racing back in the 70s as a whippersnapper and playing with my Richard Petty and Bobby Allison slot car set. Bump to your comments but don't forget David Pearson, Tiny Lunde and Fireball Roberts.

While I still watch and enjoy NA$CAR racing, in fact I have attended every Texas race. You make very valid points.
It is not "Stock Car" racing any longer. They all run the same chassis, the only difference is the decals, for the most part.
NA$CAR was the last bastion of Mandom, it is now PC, just like the rest of this effeminate country.
I still enjoy it, but it is waaaay watered down these days.

All redneck and inbred jokes aside, growing up half way in between Atlanta and Talledega had some advantages.
On another note, remember that 80's era racing movie, "Six Pack" starring Kenny Rodgers? Most of the dirt track scene's were filmed at the local track. And, Robbie Stille, the boy in the movie that cussed to extremes, was in my high school class of '85.

Somehow I missed that movie. Watched parts of "Days of Thunder"...the parts with the racing.
Can't stand Tom Cruise.
