Another factor is what the United States would do - no matter the composition of congress and who's president. Perhaps not as voiced condemnation as from Europe, but I can't imagine a non-response.

Absolutely true! We might cut aid to Israel in half. I can't think of any mass expulsions in the world that have succeeded in the last 25 years except for Kuwait kicking out 300,000 Palestinians just after the Gulf War. My point is that in the general chaos of a war in the MidEast Israel can expel Palestinians without too much international condemnation. Most especially if Hamas, Fatah, Hizballah try to unleash hell. Try to join the festivities. I doubt they could resist doing so.
