NASA has talked to observer in CA who reported the vehicle shedding parts.

Bear with us...

We are concentrating on structure, thermal, and flight control systems, not just tile. We're gaining ground.

Turning mic over to Bob ?

I hate to ask, but is it possible that the computer had a problem?

Are they finally admitting heat?

Finally? Admitting? - They have just begun to investigate this, and it just happened yesterday. Give them a little time!

Just for the heck of it, I checked Ebay yesterday afternoon to see if some sicko was trying to sell debris. That was a posting, but Ebay had deleted the info.

Recovery of forensic evidence is a specialty of the FBI. I would be surprised if they weren't involved.

Are they finally admitting heat? Yesterday all they kept saying was "Off chart low" or some such

Are you sure of that? The discussion yesterday included comments about the bond line temperature; and while some instruments indeed did go off-scale low (lost instrument), my recollection is yesterday, NASA also reported that some instruments indicated anomolous readings.

This current guy talking is a weany so far.

DoD does have statutory authority AND duty to assist NASA in the event of a spacecraft inflight mishap.

Could be that piece of installion struck the wheel well door and removed some tile.......and not really damaging the wing itself..

No mention of the WFAA video showing the Shuttle flying sideways just before the breakup. I hope some reporter asks.

Left wing is hotter, wheel well is going on the blink, and there was some sort of drag pulling the vehicle to the left...

That's exactly what would be happening if the shuttle started losing heat tiles from the left wing.
