Repititio Mater Scientiae

Ya gotta think outside the box, if ya wanta solve this problem here.

What did the Somali Tribespesrsons do back in the old country? Well, their major occupation seems to have involved cattle, goats, camels, and sheep rustled from one tribe to another; they conducted the odd raid into Kenya; Kidnapped folks; and generally behaved like a semi-naked version of the Wild Bunch. Their women were known to do a bit of farming and trading and scout out opportunities for the boys to go back to plan "a" above, when they weren't too busy to handle the odd clitorectomy.

So to get our new fellow citizens back to work, we have to recreate in Maine the opportunities they are accustomed to working with in Somalia. I see no reason why the dolorful and quaint Somali Tribespersons in L/A can't raid Bar Harbor, Boothbay, and Ogunquit from time to time. Many of folk who are the normal summer habitués of these swank resorts seem to be just the sort of New York and Boston Democrats who are culturally sensitive enough to appreciate a good multicultural kidnapping. Their offspring might also enjoy getting tribal tattoos and geometric scars.

For example, The Dairymen are always complaining about hard it is to make a buck, so the Somalis would actually be doing them a favor by rearranging the Holsteins for them. I also recommend expanding the funky old 30's attraction, "Desert of Maine" to 1000 sq. miles, so the Somalis don't get too homesick.

Of course, in order to do their part to make our state more interesting to tourists, I would suggest they wear their native garb, summer AND winter.

I also notice that this Somali activist is a resident of St. Paul, MN. Minnesota is nice big place, perhaps he'd like to take a few Somalis off our welfare roll, and put them on Minnesota's.

I see our friends have experienced a good Maine wintah. That alone is enough to send them packing to warmer climates.

Poor Baldacci's buddies, the tenements will soon be empty again.

I don't know what ever was in his head and Rep. Tom Allen's to begin with, ozone! There had to be something in it for them, to push for the Somali's to move to Maine. There always is.

The majority came from Atlanta, as Maine shows higher rate of employment than other states.

If you'd been following the stories since this first started you'd know that the Somali elders openly stated in the newspapers that they came here specifically because Maine offers some of the best and easiest welfare conditions in the country.

Either that or you forgot to close your sarcasm tags.

Not exactly:

"Mohammed Maye, the president of the African Community and Refugee Center in Clarkston, has a map of Lewiston on the wall of his office. “Go to Maine,” he advises Somalis. He has recently opened a second office in Lewiston. Abdullahi Abdullahi, the president of the Somali Community Development Organization in Clarkston, tells Somalis that, unlike Georgia, Maine has terribly cold winters, but “the welfare system is better.”

If thousands of African moslems are just wonderful for any community in America, why not tens of millions spread out over thousands of communities in America?

What the whole country needs is to reduce welfare and have a mini-ice age to hit for a few a few years.
I hope the Somalis know that this winter has been very cold here in Mo., lots of budget cuts here in Mo., and the crime rate is high in St. Louis.

It isn't about the sammies, it is about the welfare workers. They always need to grow their victum base. It isn't about getting people independent, but keeping and making dependents.

Good jobs, at good wages.

This is very true.
But why aren't the Somalis moving to states that have plenty of low-skill work like picking fruits and vegetables like the Mexicans?
BTW don't let Dick Gephardt see that rebel flag on your dog. He'd make you take it off of him (sarcasm).

They arn't moving, they are recruited by the welfare workers. They, in this case the Samies, hunt around for the best deal, just like major corporations, pit one states welfare workers and their bennies against another.

No welfare case, no need for welfare workers.
Welfare workers lose govie jobs.
Thus the "hunt" for new clients.
For the Maine welfare industries, workers, unions and companies, the whole thing is a fantastic "SUCK-ess".
