God Bless You for supporting our Troops,
MJY
On a personal note, I changed the Louisville to reflect my city of Loveland, Colorado and emailed it to my council representive to see what the protocol would be to pass a similar resolution in Loveland.
Here is his response.
Hi xxx,
I have forwarded your proposed resolution to our City Attorney, xxxxxxx and have spoken to him about your idea to support our men and woman who have been called to duty in the USA armed forces. After sharing my support for such a resolution with xxxxxx, we came to a mutual agreement that a proclamation by the city council would be more applicable than a resolution. I am asking xxxxx to have your resolution rewritten into a City proclamation. As soon as our City Attorney does this for us and a date has been selected for the council to approve the proclamation, I would like you to appear before council to read and ask the City Council to approve the proclamation. Thanks for your great idea to support our men and woman who put themselves in harms way to fight for what we Americans must do for freedom and safety worldwide.
xxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxx City Council
A day later I got this email from him. They must be stoked!
xxx,
The proclamation will be ready for the council meeting on February 18,2003. Please be at the council chambers in City Hall a few minutes before 6:30 P.M.and we will talk about the procedure to recognize you for this splendid idea and I will ask council for permission for you to read the proclamation aloud to the council and general public.
See you on Tuesday, Nov. 18
Guess where I will be on the Feb 18th? The meeting is televised and I told Mr. Hawkins that I will give him credit for the original text at he same time I will put in a plug for FreeRepublic.
