This is the same racist moron who thought that the US landed a man on mars. Her ignorance and stupidity are only topped by her arrogance.
'toad suckup to her Maoist field bosses'?
'Boot licking Soviet butcher'?
'Pig globalist'?
'Storm trooper for the One World criminal class'?
'Brown shirted thug'?
'Goose-stepping retard'?
'The Pig'(as a proper noun)?
I wonder who read it to her.
I can understand the distinction that making Election Day a national holiday, replacing Veterans Day, is disrespectful to Veterans. I can also appreciate the writer's notion that doing so would lessen the meaning of Veterans Day and would essentially make it 'Politicians Day'. However, were this to become a national holiday, I am not convinced this would benefit Jackson Lee's interests.
As you mentioned, theoretically, this would get more Americans out to the polls (as they would have a day off from work). IMHO (and my compass could be way off on this subject, I'll not argue that), the more working Americans at the polls, the better for the GOP.
While I support our President & am in favor of war with Iraq, I do not see why Saddam now controlling "kuwait, saudi arabia, quatar, yemen and possibly even iran" would be such a bad thing.
With 20/20 hindsight, I have come to believe that war among the arab muslim countries might be good for the rest of the world. It has to weaken them collectively as they fight against each other, leading to a day when the west can more easily topple the exhausted winner.
Plus, it seems to me, that the down payment on the price for western intervention to save the ingrates, should be a pledge to modernize, creation of secular governments, recognition of Israel, punishment of terrorists, and stabilization of oil prices.
We lost a golden opportunity in Kuwait. The Kuwaitis were really in a bind and the Saudis knew they were next on Saddam's list. The failure oif the '91 war was not that we did not take out Saddam, but that Kuwait and Saudi Arabia still do not recognize Israel, their citizenry still hates Americans, and fundamental islamists still thrive
We need to raise the price of American protection.
