A problem with hand tools... I failed as well - could never pick out the metric size adjustable wrench - only the standard one.
I had a similar problem with metric. The 30 centimeter ruler I was using had the minor divisions in 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 and 1/16ths, while the one foot ruler had the minor divisions in 1/10ths. :-)
