If the Army wanted you to have a wife, they would have issued you one.

Heh heh, that's right. If you are only staying in for a short time, 4 years or what have you, being single and in the military can be a great time. You get to travel and live a care free life - except for the danger of combat, if that applies to you. It can be a time of personal growth, without having to worry about a spouse or children.

Regardless, plenty of time to be married later.

It's not just young soldiers. I've seen older ones get very distraught as well over these things.

Yes....he was a good guy...classmate of mine and was very well respected. Knowing him was a blessing...his family is great and he was loved by all (the whole town was there to show their respects).
