CIRCA 2002
Linda Hall Daschle, wife of (then)Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD), works as a lobbyist for the firm of Baker, Donelson, Bearman and Caldwell. According to lobbying reports filed by law with the Secretary of the Senate, Mrs. Daschle lobbied on behalf of the corporations listed below. Several, including Loral, Boeing and United Technologies, have ranked among the top federal contractors.

Example:
Company (Years Served by Mrs. Daschle)
Fees Paid to Mrs. Daschle's Firm**
Lobbying Issues of this client.

(1) American Airlines (1997-2001)*
$1,260,000***
Various airline bills, post-Sept. 11 airline legislation.

(2) Northwest Airlines (1997-2001)
$870,000
Lobbied post-Sept. 11 airline legislation, sought help in settling a labor dispute; airline security, air traffic measures in Congress, and noise pollution laws.

(3) Loral Space and Communications, Ltd. (2000-2001)
$740,000

(4) United Technologies Corp. (1999-2002)
$640,000
A major government defense contractor that manufactures jet engines, United Technologies lobbied for airline legislation after Sept. 11.

(5) Schering-Plough (1999-2001)
$470,000
Seeking to extend its patent on Claritin, protecting the allergy drug’s multi-billion-dollar market from cheaper, generic alternative drugs.

(6) L-3 Communications (1997-2001)
$440,000
The Washington Post (Nov. 18) reported that L-3 developed an airport bomb detection device in October 2000. Writes the Post: " ‘Airlines ‘didn't want them because they didn't work,’ said a former top FAA security official...So L-3 took its case to Capitol Hill...hired lobbyists Albert Randall... and Linda Hall Daschle...The connections apparently paid off. Today the FAA is buying dozens of the machines, under an unusually explicit directive from Congress: Wording inserted in last year's federal transportation budget orders the FAA to purchase one L-3 machine for every model purchased from [competitor] InVision."

(7) Boeing (1998-2001) $440,000 Lobbied post-Sept. 11 airline legislation, transportation appropriations bills, and bankruptcy reform.

(8) American Trucking Assn (1999-2000) $240,000 Dept of Transportation appropriations bill, 1999 and 2000.

(18) American Concrete and Pavement Assn (1999-2000)| Under $20,000 Lobbied on the Air Transportation Improvement Act of 1999.

Total Fees Paid to Mrs. Daschle’s Firm for her Projects: $5,860,000

Notes:
* With the exception of a termination report for United Technologies Corp., 2002 forms have not yet been filed.
** Mrs. Daschle was not the only lobbyist working for these clients on behalf of her firm.
*** Federal lobbying reports allow rounding to the nearest $20,000, and so all figures are estimates.

Just like the lowlife Clintons, the lowlife Daschles parlayed their Washington contacts into big bucks.

Now that little Tommy has been demoted, by popular demand of the American voters, we can only conjecture if the industries mentioned are still interested in Linda's "services."

In January 2002, according to the Washington Times, "Loral paid a $14 million fine to the State Department, ending a five year investigation into charges the company illegally helped China to improve its long range missiles through satellite deals."

Loral was headed by Bernie Schwartz who was Clinton's top donor (Loral is now a defunct company). Cheeky Schwartz actually lobbied Clinton at White House gatherings. Outrageous.

These lowlifes saw nothing wrong with this. The Clintons and their self-serving donors turned the US government into a corrupt enterprise. This is corruption so endemic it is tantamount to sedition.

Nice find on the traitors at Loral giving big bucks to Daschle. Clever way to disguise a huge bribe. Terry McAulifee had his evil hand in Loral too, if I recall.

I agree on the 'lowlife' categorization of Clintons and Dassholes, however, if nothing can be done legally to charge these people with a crime, then nothing will be done to rid the US of this ilk......

And let's not forget that Mrs Daschle was forced to resign from the FAA for covering up Value Jet's unsafe practices. The FAA under her rule also conveniently "lost" records implicating her husband in the cover-up of deaths in a small airline crash in South Dakota.

And let's not forget

Since our millionaire politicians have bought off our collective national media, we will have all the corruption our collective national media will allow. :-(

IE: the rats didn't get Lott, or Newt or Nixon. The media did.

I am wondering when the link to Mrs. Christopher Dodd ( Jackie Clegg) and Enron loans will be made? She was 1st VP of Import Export Bank and traveled with Enron execs in Asia. What committee does Senator Dodd serve on these days?
Mrs Tom Harkin was also involved in securing loans. I believe they were government backed loans for Enron. It is funny how the senate just pushed it all aside. The 90's
had senate wives doing lots of business.

Thanks for posting this article. This comes as no surprise.

The biggest funder of the Da$$holes, AA airlines is a prime example what can be wrong when Senators get bought off via their wives.

Last year the worthless CEO of AA was on the radio complaining that AA just couldn't do a lot of things to make air travel safer. One was passenger identification from the moment the ticket was ordered, to boarding and tracking the passenger's luggage to insure that if the passenger put luggage on the plane, they were on that plane when it took off.

As we heard the whining AA CEO, my wife was in the car and had just returned from a trip to the Midwest on Southwest Airlines. I had picked her up after her return flight, and we were heading home when we heard this left winger CEO whine that AA couldn't do this.

My wife started to laugh. Southwest had inacted this computer system very quickly after 9/11. They pulled luggage off her outbound flight because the person who put the luggage on the plane did not check in for a ticket. She saw several other obvious security actions due to SW's computer program being use. People who had one way flights or had changed flights were identified and went through extra question and examination. Passengers like my wife with round trip tickets made well in advance from their homes or offices received minimal security attention.

Southwest made an excellent profit last year. Most of the heavy airline donors and whiners to MS DA$$HOLE went into the red. They had rather donate money to MS DA$$HOLE to get a waiver from doing a simple task.
