Some would say that Germany under Nazi control is an extreme case; that it couldn't happen anywhere else in the world, especially in the "civilized" western Democracies/Republics. I say, "Why take that chance?" Registration leads to Confiscation leads to - possibly mass murder BY GOVERNMENT.

Maryland is following up on all those "sniper tips". I suspect they will disarming lots of law abiding citizens who own "arsenals" that can be detailed in the local press.

On a slightly different topic, the San Diego Sheriff's Office has a new website. You can now check to see if your new employee or neighbor is named in one of 17,000 outstanding felony warrants in the county. That's a lot of felons running loose in San Diego.

"In 1941, U.S. Attorney General Robert Jackson called on Congress to enact national registration of all firearms."

Interesting. He later became the prosecutor at Nuremberg, and went on to write this quote that always has inspired me:

"It is not the function of our government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the government from falling into error." (Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson (1950))
