John, I live where I live so that I don't need to contend with the truth of this article, but I have no illusions as to what is happening nationwide. This is a small bastion of the America I remember (or as close as I can get to it). When there is no place left to live where our culture remains, maybe then we will do something about the disaterous immigration policies begun by LBJ.

I live on the front lines, and I see the truth of this article every day. We are on the verge of profound changes in the fabric of our society and our culture...and we are doing nothing to stop it.

We all deplore the loss of freedoms that we see today, but part of the reason for these losses is the lack of cultural commonality of the changing population - and so we substitute laws. Mexico and points south is a very different culture; and Texas is being annexed one illegal immigrant at a time.

But what the hey. Cheap labor above all, right?

>> Illinois is yet another state that has experienced an unusually large growth in immigration. The nonpartisan Center for Immigration Studies estimated that due to immigration, the population of Illinois would increase by approximately 3 million persons over the next 25 years. The consequences are predictable: Bilingual education increased the cost per student by about 50 percent; the state spends more than $170 million on welfare for illegal aliens; the increase in crime costs the state $44 million to imprison illegal aliens. To the casual observer, Mexicans coming across the border to fill jobs in industries such as textile mills and meatpacking plants are simply an innocuous source of cost-effective labor. The amnesty-for-illegal-aliens crowd still chants the same weary mantra. <<

Our RINO governor pandered to illegal aliens and Spanish-governments (Mexico, Cuba, etc.) throughout his term and was swamped in a huge scandal because Spanish-speaking illegals received driver's licenses and caused dozens of accidents. The most infamous case was the "Willis family" in Milwaukee where an an illegal truck driver couldn't read the sign that said he was driving on the wrong side of the road (nor understand the radio messages telling him to switch lanes), thus causing him to slam into a minivan, killing six kids.

If you'd like to see the results of our RINO governor pandering to "socially conservative" illegals, check out the 2002 election results for Illinois. Oh, and check out which "hispanics" managed to win elections in this state. (hint: not any that ran with an "R" next to their name)
