O' Bannon is just the nightmare Bayh( now sen. Bayh ) left behind. He ruined this damned state, like clinton did the nation.

Between O' bannon and Bayh with the help of John Gregg ( speaker of the house) they banckrupted this state.

Now they want our guns I'll bet no one raises cane over it and it passes around midnight on a wed / thur just like the rest of the crap they pull around here!

"Occupation: Associate professor, education, Indiana University Northwest"

Here's the problem. There are 2 occupations that should be barred from holding public office. College professor's and lawyers

But read the other bill above it; it says:

SOURCE: IC 35-47-5-8; (03)IN1011.1.2. --> SECTION 2. IC 35-47-5-8 AS AMENDED BY P.L.123-2002, SECTION 43, IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2003]: Sec. 8. A person who owns or possesses knowingly or intentionally:
(1) manufactures;
(2) imports into Indiana;
(3) sells;
(4) purchases;
(5) possesses; or
(6) transfers possession of;
a machine gun, an automatic weapon, a semiautomatic weapon, or
ammunition for any of those weapons commits a Class C felony.

Lots of submachinegun shoot pistol ammo. Looks like they are trying to ban pistol ammo!

"...or can be readily restored..."

I see your point, but I would argue that restore means "to return to manufacturer's spec". If the proposed changes said "...readily modify to shoot...", I would agree with your concern.

Even better,
The state constitution:
Indiana: The people shall have a right to bear arms, for the defense of themselves and the State.

The person who submitted this bill is in violation of the Indiana citizen's Civil Rights. Have at it.

There aren't many pistols that they don't make rifles in the same ammo class. subguns come in pistol round calibers and I guess you can figure the rest.

Read again. This law only would affect drug dealers who use the weapons in question. This would never fly in a largely rural state like Indiana and likely, as previously stated here, will die in committee....

Respectfully, I think you are wrong. There are two codes of law cited above. The first has no language pertaining to drugs. It is entirely about what guns and ammunition shall be considered illegal, no caveats about drugs. It stands on its own as a legal statute. The second merely addresses additional penalties that may be added to whatever charges are brought if certain 'gun' violations are determined to be in conjunction with violations of drug laws.

People who propose such legislation are sick, wholly un-American and woefully ignorant of history. They are spitting and otherwise spraying their bodily fluids directly into the wind.

Luckily, knowing quite a few people in Indiana, I do not believe such a bill has a snowball's chance there ... at least I hope and pray not.

I pray you are wrong ... but it would not be the first time I was dead wrong and terribly dissappointed over such issues. It is one of the reasons I live out here in Idaho.

Born and raised in Texas ... got to be too many people in the country 60 miles out of Dallas where I was raised. Went to Montana in early 90's, ended up in Idaho.

Great place to raise kids ... not entirely devoid of the liberal thinkers ... but they are a very small minority here.

Great hunting, great shooting, great fishing, great country and a whole lot of all American people.

Jeff

I'll take the word of a Hoosier for it (I'm a former Hoosier myself). Do you agree that this likely will die in committee, given the demographics of IN outside of rust-belt "Geeeruh?"
