You have to admire the audacity. The Big Apple prides itself on its worship of big swinging cajunas - and bitchiness don't qualify.

If New York votes for Bush in 2004 - as it did twice for Ronald Reagan Deborah Orin is once again deluding herself. 1. Upstate (Repulican stronghold) has lost population 2. Suburbs are increasingly Democratic around NYC 3. The "Reagan Democrats" in places like Buffalo and Queens are now dead and 4. Democratic registration in New York has increased considerably since the 1980s.
Nevertheless, I look forward to the convention.

I agree. Its a masterstroke. The backdrop of 9-11 couldn't be more perfect for President Bush and the GOP. What the Dems are reduced to is celebrating Ted Kennedy liberalism in Boston, Massachusetts. The Dems could have gone to Texas and challenged Bush in his own backyard but they decided to write off the South. Dumb move. In contrast Dubya is saying very clearly to the opposition, I'm making a move for The Big Apple. And if it pays off, Bush won't have to worry about California.

We must keep in mind that the New YOOORRRK sheeple gave Mrs. Billy Clinton a PLURALITY OF 1.6 MILLION VOTES!

"
If Republicans make it in New York, they can make it anywhere."Doubt it.
Debbie doesn't understand the deep-seated socialistic mind-set of the Left Coast.

It'll be interesting, to say the least. By then, the local dems will have their talking points (all handed down by DNC HQ) that say GWB is capitalizing on 9/11 for his own gains. W will have to do one of his incredible speeches there to win 'em over again.
