It is the 30th anniversary month of the Supreme Court's 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision, which, along with subsequent rulings, allows abortion on demand at any time and for any reason. Having already decided, with the support of academics, clergy and journalists, that certain categories and stages of life are not entitled to the protection of law, why are so many appalled, outraged and surprised when cloning arrives at the door?

The mind reels at the contemplation of just exactly what a "souless" person (clone) would be like. Or will clones have souls? I would not think they would.

I truely believe that when God said, "Let us made man in our image...", that He was speaking of the spirit or soul that man would possess, thus setting man apart from other animals. Without a soul, would a clone have a conscious? Would he/she know right from wrong or even understand the concept? Without a soul, what other attributes would be missing or unable to be performed by the brain? And would we even be able to tell there was any differences until it was too late and we had a whole generation of souless people born upon the earth?

All they are trying to do, is to create an individual who has the EXACT same genotype as the 'Mother.'

The clone will NOT look like the 'Mother' (phenotypically) and will NOT have any mental or consciousness connection to the 'Mother.'

In theory, it would just be a regular, unremarkable baby who has the same genotype as the 'Mother.' Some of the discussions I have seen about this sound like they are inspired by a third-rate science fiction flick.

The larger problem, IMHO, is what happens to all the failed attempts. I can't speak to the potential deformities that might be caused by the process they are using, but according to the experiments on animals, I am afraid to think of the 'errors' that will happen along the way.

A slippery slope indeed. Just look at some of the comments herein - many would discount a clone as a human being. So it is said by most pro-aborts too of the 'fetus'. And so it was said many years ago in this country....that blacks had no soul.....were less than human....
