In the law in the West, we have a concept of contracts being void as 'against public policy', e.g. contracts of slavery, gambling debts, etc. We should openly declare that, at least as applied to our citizens and those of every civilized country, Islamic Law is 'void as against public policy' and that our armed forces will ensure that no one who doesn't wish to be subject to the nonsense of islamic Law is required to be subject to it.

Kinda like if I leave a big tub of paint cantilevered off of a high shelf. I should not expect that everyone in my family is safe from paint falling on them at some point in the near future. They certainly don't deserve it, but it is certainly within the realm of probability that someone is going to get a bucket of paint dropped on their head really soon.
