WRITTEN IN STONE: AN ARCHITECT DEFINES THE CLINTONS

by Mia T, 12-30-02

If mutability of meaning was necessary for the survival of the clintons--their survival hinged ultimately on the deconstruction of words and laws--it is more than a little ironic, and a manifestation of the special sway and shortsightedness of the pathologic ego, that clinton's monument to himself will necessarily define the clintons with the permanance of great inviolate places of iconic architecture.

While a huckster removes meaning from institutions --the wife picked up where the husband left off--an architect encodes meaning in buildings. James S. Polshek, the architect with the dubious distinction of having been commissioned to build the William J. Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Arkansas, believes that a successful architectural solution must necessarily be rooted in relevance.

Just as Polshek's buildings have physical layers, so too do they have layers of meaning. His Rose Center for Earth and Space, for example, is informed formally and programmatically by the historic architecture of a designated landmark even as it redefines itself, (often too self-consciously, in my view), in Star-Trekian terms. Reduced to its essence, the building is the nascent universe before the Big Bang, the promise of the undifferentiated cell in its mother's womb,

The "bridge to the 21st century" was, perhaps, clinton's most delusional conceit, so it is not surprising that it would become clinton's self-referential metaphor of choice. His library was to be that bridge, if he had anything to say about it...

The architect is often the master of the inside joke, witness Robert Venturi's postmodern chairs. Venturi exploited--unabashedly and with abandon--the vocabulary of Las Vegas, its stage-set-as-reality and its roadside culture--bright, clashing, ugly and fake. The architect's inside joke is his hedge against the sycophancy that comes with patronage.

The flip side of the encoded meaning of the architect is the terrorist's decoding ot it. To bin Laden, the World Trade Center was Jewish capitalism encoded in urban space. If Polshek's vision of clinton's library is a bridge, the inside joke is that, at best, it is a bridge to nowhere.

More likely, it is a bridge to the 7th century...or a doublewide to house clinton double-speak. Take your choice.

In my view, the "unalienable Rghts," of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" are an ordered list of decreasing import.

Without life, the rest is meaningless, and terrorism threatens life.

As for the threat of abuse of the USA PATRIOT ACT, the reasoning is circular.

Honest leaders won't exploit the the USA PATRIOT ACT to violate us and, as we have seen, despots like the clintons don't require the USA PATRIOT ACT to violate us.

Good observation.

I don't think the rapist drives...or perhaps he's protecting the Buddy replacement from SUVs.

In this season of gift horses and attack dogs, let's not forget Buddy...

Sources: White House Lobbied For Clinton Nobel Peace Prize Updated Friday, October 13, 2000 By Rita Cosby WASHINGTON -- Two Norwegian public-relations executives and one member of the Norwegian Parliament say they were contacted by the White House to help campaign for President Clinton to receive this year's Nobel Peace Prize for his work in trying to negotiate peace in the Middle East.

Clinton Lobbies for Nobel Prize: What a Punk

There's been speculation in the last few months that Clinton was pursuing a Mideast peace accord in an effort to win the prize and secure his legacy as president.

AIDES PUSH CLINTON FOR THE NOBEL

At the time, clinton observed: "I made more progress in the Middle East than I did between Socks and Buddy." Retrospectively, it is clear that clinton's characterization was not correct.

Buddy Death Report Raises More Questions Than It Answers

By MIA T

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y., Jan. 4 -- The clinton-PR-machine-generated report of the death of Buddy, the impeached ex-president's chocolate Labrador, raises more questions than it answers. The report states: "Buddy playfully took after a contractor leaving the Clinton home about noon and was struck by a sport utility vehicle on Route 117 at the bottom of Old House Lane...Neither Mr. Clinton nor Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton were [sic] home at the time. The only comment they will make on the matter is by way of a statement issued by Mrs. Clinton's office: 'My best memory is that I did not have any involvement in that death.'"

Buddy
1997-2002

The report fails to explain how Buddy was able to wrest from the strong arm of the Secret Service and negotiate the multimillion-dollar, taxpayer-financed retrofits that were installed to make the poorly located suburban house safe for the universally despised former first couple. The report also fails to include a timeline detailing the whereabouts of the clintons on the day of the death. The clinton report's indictment of a sport utility vehicle (SUV) has caused incipient whispers of a vast left-wing conspiracy and the ever-expanding list of dead adverse clinton witnesses to fill the Senate cloakroom.

Buddy was a 1997 'gift' from a 'benefactor' who subscribed to the notion: "If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog," particularly sage advice for a DC couple forever mired in scandal and antipathy. Whether Buddy also subscribed to that notion was questioned as recently as last January when he entangled himself in clinton's legs, dropping the impeached ex-president to the pavement; clinton insisted at the time that there was no malevolence involved, that they were simply playing a game of fetch. clinton refused to say who was doing the fetching.
(see BILL & HILL & BUDDY & HELEN, Helen Thomas Syndrome: THE SYMPTOMS )

The White House reported that the clintons' first First Pet, Socks, a cat, "greeted the canine acquisition with a hiss previously reserved only for Ken Starr." Because Buddy remained Socks' nemesis throughout the clinton dog days, Socks was eventually exiled to Virginia, to the suburban home of Betty Currie, former clinton subornee and sex scheduler. At the time, clinton observed: "I made more progress in the Middle East than I did between Socks and Buddy." Retrospectively, it is clear that clinton's characterization was not correct.

Buddy web sites quickly exploded in cyberspace. (Socks web sites, too, Socks would add.) Mrs. clinton, a long-time adherent of synergistic exploitation, "authored" an instant book about three groups favored for exploitation by the clintons: dogs, cats and children. "Dear Socks, Dear Buddy: Kids' Letters to the First Pets" was published by the clintons' personal agitprop-and-money-laundering machine, Simon & Schuster. (see Is hillary clinton's $8M "book advance" a Peter-Principle artifact?)

Although Chappaqua locals share the national repugnance for the clintons, their feelings never spilled over to Buddy. "The big highlight for people was, 'I just saw Buddy,' never mind Mr. and Mrs. Clinton," said Christine Meyer, owner of Wags and Whiskers here.

Honest leaders won't exploit the the USA PATRIOT ACT to violate us and, as we have seen, despots like the clintons don't require the USA PATRIOT ACT to violate us.

So it is OK to give the govt. permission to wiretap, eavesdrop on, track, search and secretly try us, because the good guys won't abuse this power and the bad guys won't ask for permission to do it anyway?

It sounds like that's what you are saying, and if so, I think you might want to take another look at who actually has the "circular" reasoning here.

You omitted the first part of my answer; in my view, the ordered importance of our unalienable rights make the USA PATRIOT ACT not only OK, but essential.

It is a sad reality that asymmetric warfare has transmuted "inalienable rights" to luxuries we can ill afford.

...everyone who suffered and died under their rule.

Not applicable to the Clintoons? How about Vince Foster and Ron Brown ...just for starters?

Precisely. The FLASH MOVIE spells it out in doublewide detail.

The bigger hoot is that the rapist was too busy with his self-referential puffery to see the trailer-trash metaphor right in front of his WC-Fieldesque, cocaine-etched nose.

Hello, mea culpa on omitting the first part of your reply.

I guess I see this issue the same way I see gun control. There are those who say "It's OK if the govt. disarms us - we can trust them to protect us like a parent protects a child."

If there was a some way you could GUARANTEE me an honest leader to whom I could hand over the keys to my life then I would gladly allow them read my mail, listen to my phone conversations, search my home, review my credit card purchases, and do all of the other wonderful things allowed by the PATRIOT ACT.

The problems is, these aren't parents, but politicians. They're not related to us, they don't know us, and what's more, they change every 4 years or so! Add to that the fact that their careers are based on PR and influence peddling and I just don't feel comfortable handing over the reins to my life in this way.

However, people do get the leaders they deserve, we wouldn't have surrendered our freedoms in this matter if that wasn't what most people wanted, so I suppose we will have to just cross our fingers and hope for the best.

Anyway, the horse is already out of the barn, so that's all we can do now anyway is hope for the best. That, and pray.

No doubt, it is a conundrum.

My view on gun control v. protection from a despotic govt: Given the technological asymmetry between the weapons of govt. and those of the people, self-protection is an illusion and the 4th amendment is moot.

Excellent points.

Though, if all things were equal, I'd still prefer the text of the written law to discourage government overreaching as much as possible and functional.

Good catch - MiaT and good graphic again.

Yes, the Communist Butchers are masters at using pscyhological "charges" and tactics against those who "object" to their totalitarian butcheries, aren't they? Tactics endorsed - and, indeed - on the doorstep of being re-used - in once sane America.....should these butchers ever take the reins of power again in America. May the people of Venezuela, fighting their own Communist butcher, be our inspiration and, with God's help, successful model of opposition to what one day COULD befall America: Totalitarian power seizure led by the She-Witch, Hillary Clinton.

She should really read what the Bible has to say about "wickedness" and those who "do evil"......their end is not pretty.

Now - now - watch it! I meant "end" as in "completion of their life on this earth". e.g: Psalm 94:

1 O LORD , the God who avenges,
O God who avenges, shine forth.
2 Rise up, O Judge of the earth;
pay back to the proud what they deserve.
3 How long will the wicked, O LORD ,
how long will the wicked be jubilant?

4 They pour out arrogant words;
all the evildoers are full of boasting.
5 They crush your people, O LORD ;
they oppress your inheritance.
6 They slay the widow and the alien;
they murder the fatherless.
7 They say, "The LORD does not see;
the God of Jacob pays no heed."

8 Take heed, you senseless ones among the people;
you fools, when will you become wise?
9 Does he who implanted the ear not hear?
Does he who formed the eye not see?
10 Does he who disciplines nations not punish?
Does he who teaches man lack knowledge?
11 The LORD knows the thoughts of man;
he knows that they are futile.

12 Blessed is the man you discipline, O LORD ,
the man you teach from your law;
13 you grant him relief from days of trouble,
till a pit is dug for the wicked.
14 For the LORD will not reject his people;
he will never forsake his inheritance.
15 Judgment will again be founded on righteousness,
and all the upright in heart will follow it.

16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked?
Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?
17 Unless the LORD had given me help,
I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.
18 When I said, "My foot is slipping,"
your love, O LORD , supported me.
19 When anxiety was great within me,
your consolation brought joy to my soul.

20 Can a corrupt throne be allied with you-
one that brings on misery by its decrees?
21 They band together against the righteous
and condemn the innocent to death.
22 But the LORD has become my fortress,
and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.
23 He will repay them for their sins
and destroy them for their wickedness;
the LORD our God will destroy them.
